After some time in space combat massive FPS drops occur.
I know that a lot of players experience this problem as well, but I haven't found any Issue Tracker open especially for this.

After 30 minutes, on average, the FPS drops start. I noticed that the GPU power is reduced during the problem, this justifies the drop of the FPS on Odyssey.
When the FPS drop goes below 30, I exit to the main menu and go back to the game and the FPS returns to normal.

On Horizons and any other game this FPS drop doesn't happen.

in all likelihood they have quire a few memory leaks to plug imo
and as its not exactly a game stopper I assume it will be addressed in future patches
if this persists after a reboot try deleting the gpuworktable.xml
where you should be good to go again at least for a while.

Thanks for the tip but it didn't solve the problem.

no it wont solve the problem only the game devs can do that with patches
and gpu optimizations (not due till the game is released on consoles)
it will just ensure your pc is not compounding the problem making it even worse than it is via redundent cache files
there is no fix you can apply

This problem has always happened in Horizons. You'll see it in any resource extraction site if you stay long enough. Jump out and back in again, and it resets. I'm going to guess that a file gets fragmnted because it starts off with bouts of stuutering followed by normal frame rates, then gradually deteriorating as the stutting gets worse and for longer, like the CPU is busy with something else.

I've also had this problem in Horizons too. It's annoying.
