General / Off-Topic After video capture with Open Broadcaster...then what?

So, I've been capturing videos in ED with OBS in flv format. I tried converting them to AVI with several flv to AVI converters, all went fine and there was sound present in the AVI.

I WAS rendering them with Sony Vegas 10. This makes the file size smaller, and allows me to edit the videos. Unfortunately, Vegas seems to have issues capturing the sound with AVI files, even though the AVI files play fine with sound. I tried several solutions found on the web for fixing the "no sound in Vegas" issue, with no success.

So, my question:

What do YOU use to edit videos after you capture them in flv format?

I know that video formats seem to change frequently. Videos that play fine one day will not the next. I'm having just such a problem with some videos on various sites, including some on YouTube, but haven't found the cause yet.

Even more so with editing programs. I've used dozens over the years. I generally follow two simple rules, 1, always use a new one each time but be ready to try several, 2. never pay because paid for stop working just as quickly and you just end up loosing cash.

It isn't a matter of installing every codec, as if that were possible. It's isn't faulty PCs. It's sabotage by film companies. As paranoid as that may sound, it's the only rational explaination.

It's a mine field out there. Tread carefully.
