Age of Wonders 4 has a great combination X4 strategy and customization. The gameplay is turn-based strategy on a world map with 3D battles. It's quite easy to learn while playing. There's multiple difficulty modes as well for casual to seasoned strategists. The customization options are super in-depth. You can create races that go beyond standard fantasy tropes such as holy righteous toads, soul harvesting evil halflings, underground industrial elves and apply race transformations. You can also make factions of other fantasy franchises. The maps are randomly generated with lots of customization options for high replay value. The choices in research, buildings, units, tomes (magic abilities), and choices (good, neutral or evil) further customizes your faction and play style. The artwork and graphics are beautiful and there's nice background music. It can be quite addictive since I kept playing "one-more-turn" until the wee hours. So AoW4 is an epic X4 fantasy game in its own right and a worthy sequel to the classic of AoW1 of 1999.
