PvP AGI-Anti-Greifers Initiative

Kind of hoping there is already a group that does this but,

Through personal expectance and reading the forums I have noticed there are a lot of victims to the bad side of PvP. Ganking/ greifing is notably a growing problem (particularly with some players spinelessly slaughtering the innocent or who are un-doubtfully weaker than them. (I have read stories of players in Anaconda's slaughtering beginner players for the fun of it, it sickens me to think there are such people) these cases have been referred to as 'bug-stomping' by members of the forum, a rather fitting term.

Justice needs to be dealt to the scum of the galaxy, these people descend lower than the pirate filth that plague the region (at least they have a motive) and need to have the tables turned on them! I am sure there are many others who feel the same.

I would like to start a group, like the Fuel rats and the Repair Corgis, one that is dedicated to helping the little guys survive and have fun whilst we make the galaxy a better place foiling one Ganker at a time!

I would like to see more PvP myself, haven't seen many players deserving of being killed yet (ones that haven't tried to stomp me in my trade cutter or explorer asp, kind of funny how they don't attack me in my corvette.)

Hoping to appeal to the good hearted CMDR's out there who have nothing better to do(like me) and help out the victims of The Galaxy.

Gankers beware...we are coming for you!

The very best way to extract as much RAGE, salt, and lulz as is physically possible from any griefer, and really rub their nose in their own mess, is simply to ignore them :D

Drunks of Sol are also recruiting!

Open a beverage and play Elite, and you are automatically a member ;)

Don't want to partake? Our Sobriety Branch welcomes also :D

'I' before 'e', except after 'c', and in sounding as 'a' like in 'neighbor' and 'weigh'.

Ummm, yeah that was deliberate....... yeah ok you got me. :D

There is already a group Adles Armada, they protect noobs in Eravate, but I think SDC slaughtered them recently

SDC? Eravate is actually a system I have not heard of before... Very popular I assume?

If you are looking to join a group vs start your own, Cobra Kai are good people: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/345675-COBRA-KAI-(PvP-on-the-side-of-the-Law!)

I will definatly look into it! Thanks! :)

Damn, I am a professional already!! Is it bad or good If get more kills drunk than sober??? :D

You can do it yourself to 'troll' the griefers....

You see them in one system (usually during CGs) just interdict them endlessly... in this...

Ganking =! griefing

Ganking is an activity being a part of PvP functionality (non optional in multiplayer modes). Like trading being a part of PvE.

But it can become griefing : seal clubbing (but it matches specific situation).

Aside from the usual inability to discern between PvP in its entirety, ganking/murder and griefing, at least this is a positive way of handling it.

Op, you have my blessing. With any hope your inititive takes off and you can quickly reach the same conclusion that PvP bounty hunting is one of the most damaged aspects of PvP (murder ironically being the least impaired by recent rule changes). I will have a club tshirt for you when you reach the epiphony ;)

+1 to OP, nice to see someone is finally "getting it" as to what it takes to incentivize Open play!

Take out the trash, and perhaps it will be clean enough that people will want to move into the neighborhood :)

This is absolutely true!
Being a PlayerKiller is one of the easiest things you can do in this game, because you can pick and choose your victims at your own leisure. Trying to collect the bounty on that player's head is a completely different story!

For this very reason, gathering a pack of Mosquitos at a CG can be just as, if not more, effective than gathering a pack of full-on combat ships.

My question is how do you get there in time. Sounds like a lot of waiting / flying around and by the time you know where they are their gone. I could be wrong but I never have been.

Hundreds of people before the OP - to who I wish nothing but success in their endeavour - have come up with the exact same *idea* before, and none have succeeded to the extent required because there are major practical issues to be overcome too.

Major previous problems have been:
1) Statistical lack of targets. It's a big galaxy and you can't patrol it all.

2) Poor motivation. People who PvP because they enjoy PvP tend to last far longer than people doing it because they don't enjoy it but feel they should do it for other reasons.
2a) People who enjoy PvP for its own sake can just head to San Tu and get a fight, rather than hanging around in supercruise hoping someone shows up.

3) Numeric issues. Defence requires way more people than attack, because the defender needs to provide reasonably constant coverage to be useful, whereas the attacker just needs to show up. (Basically the old "why PvP isn't an effective primary BGS tool" argument)

4) Skill and training. Very few of the best PvPers in-game meet the moral standards required of such groups. That leads to poor training, which leads to being completely outmatched in fights, which leads to needing even more numbers which they don't have.
4a) The engineering requirements for a proper PvP-fit ship are extensive and hated by the people whose motivation is "PvP is fun". People whose motivation is "PvP is not fun but ..." are never going to get there.

5) Over-restrictive rules of engagement. A simple thing like "only engage wanted targets" basically means you have to let every hostile get one player kill before you fight them. I've seen people go even further and in their attempts to define griefing broadly enough to catch all the people they wanted to catch, neatly rule out the possibility of shooting at SDC members without doing large amounts of paperwork first. (See point 2...)

6) PvP ships are basically invincible. Let's face it, you're not actually going to kill anyone who doesn't want to die, so the best you can do is keep them busy for a while ... see points 2 and 3.
6a) If Frontier change the game so that PvP ships aren't invincible ... then hardened trade ships are also no longer going to be invincible.

Yeah.. trolling them is the way to go... fighting them is pretty much giving them what they want ;)

Build your trolling vessels people. But other than that business as usual.. don't waste your time. Opportunities to troll will eventually arise without you actively looking for them.

If you troll them enough THEY will add you to blocked list [haha]

Why stop there?

I propose we start the anti-anti-griefer initiative: a list of known anti-griefers so that murderers can add them all to block list before they've even started the game. One can then go about clubbing seals unimpeded as normal :)

In fact if it goes far enough I could create a program that yells "ANTI GRIEFER IN VICINITY! BE ALERTED!" every time a known anti-griefer is in the same instance, meaning if one isn't on the ignore list they soon can be.

Checkmate, emergent content.
