"The Interstellar Association for Agriculture has announced that below-average crop yields are expected in several key locations.
Dr Genevieve Kane, writing on behalf of the organisation, published this statement:
“Recent audits conducted on two primary agricultural worlds, located in Diso and Orerve, indicate that staple food harvests have been markedly lower in recent months.”
“Broader data analysis suggests that crop returns in several other systems may also fail to meet projected quotas. An investigation is underway to identify the reasons for this drop in produce.”
“To prevent a shortage of produce from impacting consumers, the IAA is reviewing options to enhance the fertility of cropland used for domestic consumption. These include newly proposed synthetic treatments that we hope will increase the sustainability of essential harvests.”
The situation was first highlighted during the Alliance Festival of Culture’s culinary week, when events in the Diso system were impacted by difficulties in sourcing fresh ingredients. Subsequent reports have indicated that these shortages are not unique to Allied space."

I don't typically like these threads, but this... You reckon a famine is coming on a galactic proportion?

Yep may be Interstellar Initiatives number 3

A price increase for short on supplies products...
May be a few War conflicts over production planets and resources...

Fdev stated waffle and fluff were being removed from galnet...
So every single Galnet post was going to be 100% to do with real in game events only and Adverts for new cosmetics, ships and modules..
They also stated the next II would be after the September update..

I hope it is the ii, though it may just be the end of the alliance festival thread. But I think it's the ii :)

Now, did I remember to keep historical market data around so I can check...

Pardon my ignorance.

Dingwall has decided that The CODE can’t farm for BioWaste.

Well... I went to an agricultural economy, because "Subsequent reports have indicated that these shortages are not unique to Allied space. "... but couldn't spot anything out of the ordinary.

Yeah, I hoped I'd been collecting historical prices, but that script was never tested :) Tracking now, but if it already happened I missed it :(

The prices certainly weren't knock-your-socks-off, but they never are for agri. Tobacco and Narcotics seemed to be as expected though.

I'm just knocking some missions, then checking out Diso.

OK, so, this is actually a thing by the looks. At Shifnalport in Diso, this is the current state of foods on the market.

Those prices are compared to the random agricultural market I checked in my previous post... I'll screenshot it when I get back but the one I tried was all green for supply, so there's a substantial difference. There's every possibility it's a gradual effect.

So, I'm gonna suggest this seems to be "random agri ports have low food stocks". I'm gonna go check Orerve... just want to see the state of food markets in a non-agri, since Bao Station doesn't have a market (?!? never seen a non-outpost without a market)

Just adding here... if this is an event to god-hand some more Famine... I'd be a bit disappointed, since the real fix is to tl;dr make causing these negative states more accessible and rewarding. If it's just to cause some unusual market activity, cool :)

And just one follow-up, at Raleigh Legacy in Diso, you can still turn a profit if you buy from Shifnalport

Though compared to my other reference agricultural station which seems unaffected, it's not a seemingly large one

I'm not sure that GalNet has swapped over into "Only in game things" yet, as that thing mentions the Alliance festival of culture, which was one of the fluff things wasn't it?

So, is this just the ending of one of the fluff things, or is it part of the "Only in game things" change-over?

I really wish they had posted that thing about making all GalNet stuff relevant, at the point of having finished off all fluff things.

... now I wish I knew the difference between the green and red supplies :( Since the actual supplies look quite high to me (though without a reference point who knows 🤷‍♂️ )

I'll get some screenshots of my comparative market... but tl;dr those price differentials are way out of line for a 4.1b pop system agricultural economy.

My comparison: Pop: 500 million, supply of grain: over 4 million
Diso: Pop: 4.1 billion, supply of grain: 1.17m

Market volumes scale with population, so that's most definitely the wrong direction for the diso market.
