Ah yes...that advanced docking computer that cant dock! well played FDev

nailed it

have to rehash gifs via giphy otherwise they disappear after a few minutes leaving only the imgur outline, already been covered on this here forum.
I'm sorry you're having problems with Gifs on the forum. Your HD gif is still playing for me.

Op, calm down, then bug report your issue.

ADC and DC shouldn't be causing the ship to crash or perform heavy landings, I have tested it on a number of large ships (with no shields) no issues on my end.

Send your clip (and your specs) to support. Am sure Sarah would like some constructive feedback.

Always monitor automation, and be prepared to take over manually.

Why would you try to post gifs to show this anyway? Why not just take a short video? Much clearer for everyone. I can't even see what you're trying to demonstrate in those GIFs. Maybe the forum making it difficult to upload them is a good thing (though I've found the new forum to be excellent for uploads and media - that is one respect in which it is a huge improvement on the old).

As I posted in another thread, I wouldn't trust another pilot, whether automatic or not, to pilot my Cutter. Cutter's need respect, and you show that by flying it yourself. ;)

Well this was a waste of time, having never fitted a docking computer i thought i'd give it a whirl what with a cargo full of cutter gold its always a PITA to dock, everything else goes through the slot at 500m/s and never touches the sides.

turns out the only situation you might want a ADC on a large lethargic barge ship and its a bag of horse droppings, and cant even take off without damaging the ship let alone land!

gifs filmed with a potato due to a forum Glitch not actually producing WYSIWYG and wont posts gifs, another dogs dinner by frontier, the only gif outlet which works is via the potato filter sorry....
Did you think FD would have tested their new features ? Since when are you around ?

Still better than the SCA flying you into a star if it's in between you and your target. :D

I actually like the ADC on the ships where I have one fitted. Have had one single bad docking and no undocking issue with it so far, lots and lots of docks. I'm fully aware there's bound to be another occurence at some point, but it's been over 99% reliable, which is good enough for me. I don't have ships that have no shields though....I'm not that brave.

Odd, I've tried out the ADC in small, medium and large ships (particularly my T10) just 'because'.
not once has there been any less than a perfectly smooth exit/entry to/from the station.

You must have had a 'Monday morning' one fitted in yours :)

ETA: I lied - on an outpost I accidentally left my HOTAS on full throttle - cancelled autolaunch and immediately crashed into the side of the bay...

FPS on the Op's machine might have something to do with it. Personally never had any issues.

So just watched that gif, the ship collided with the T7 during pad alignment... Hand fly the damn ship, you can't expect the autodock to have flawless collision avoidance in every scenario.

Lol, taken directly from the pilots bible to operating automated machines. So appropriate in the Op's case

Be ready and alert to take over, if required
If doubt exists regarding the aircraft flight path or speed control, no attempt at reprogramming the automated systems should be made.

A lower level of automation or hand flying with reference to navaid raw data should be used until time and conditions permit
