Newcomer / Intro Ai calling you commander or pilot?

sorry to ask a bit of a silly question, really didn't want to open a thread over it, but there isn't a "ask your noob questions here" thread.

So here it goes.

I was wondering why the ai authority ships are no longer refering to me has "commander" but instead as "pilot" after scanning me? is there any reason for this? i have died 5 times since i've started playing.

If you are neutral, stations and ships will often call you pilot. If you are friendly, you get a bit more polite Welcome Commander when requesting docking etc.
