AI can't land my ship while in SRV

Well basically I dismiss my ship, I call it back. The game doesn't even lower landing gears, just bashes my ship to the ground until it explodes. Tried 3 times, game fails to land 3 times. Last time I just gave up and let it destroy the ship. First bug was that when I dismissed my ship I couldn't call it back before restarting the game. The option simply was not there. I restarted the game and switched spot in between of tries, just to exclude some of the obvious reasons it might fail. No cigar, just smash it to the ground and pretend to land.

How normal this is? If it was once or twice I'd get it, but three times in a row (out of three tries, so failure percentage 100%) makes me think this is a legitimate bug. I mean it is a game breaking bug when you're 7k ly away from last station and game just destroys your ship because you wanted to drive an SRV.

Similar experiences? Just "bad luck" for me? Until this is fixed or guaranteed to be nearly once in a life time experience landing to a planet during exploration isn't simply worth the risk and..well, that's half of the fun of the whole exploration?

Never had this happen. I have heard of peeps having their ship crashed on recall but never seen it myself (touch wood!) and I have been playing for 5 years.

One thing to note is that if you exit to desktop then start in non-Horizons then you will load in your ship orbiting the body (SRV safely in it's hangar).

It can also be caused by certain power profiles (though this is usually represented by the ship simply falling out of the sky).

But to get around the issue, on PC, you can log out to the vanilla version of the game. That will place you in orbit of the planet you were previously on. You can then switch back to Horizons & continue on as normal.

It was low G world, so probably not that.

It is possible that the cause was my power profile, now that you mention it! It was a bit mess and maybe the ship activating the SRV bay near ground made something turn off, or something like that.

That's relieving to hear! So it's most likely to do with me messing up the power profile, or small chance for some rare bug. Whichever the reason I think I don't have anything to fear about the wole planery exploration, just need to check my power settings and I'm good to go.

Thank you everyone for the help, fly safe!
