AI flys better without sheilds?

Is it just me or does the AI fly "better" once their sheilds are gone. I was interdicted three times out of four jumps yesterday and each time time my AI opponent lost shields they were able to out-manoeuvre and get enough time to recharge them.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I think they get more aggressive without shields. I don't think they get 'better' they just kind of have a "oh noes, this pilot got my shields down. Time to react more" <seriousAIface>

HI.
Had a similar experience. Took it to no sheilds, and then couldn't get close.
In the dogfight I took away its shields 3 times before finally nailing it
