AI for 'undermining' targets seems broken

I've been doing a lot of undermining in Winters systems targeting Federal Couriers.
After interdiction, they either just sit there, or putter along at a few m/s.
This allows me to easily move into position, target powerplant, and blast them into oblivion in seconds. It's also great for wings, as them just sitting there allows plenty of time for your wing mates to get to your wake and drop in, so you can all share in the merit bounty.

I understand that these are supposed to be soft targets, but shouldn't they be at least boosting away and popping a chaff or two? If for nothing else than to extend the battle long enough for system security to get there and make it a bit of a challenge.

I know there have been a lot of improvements to the AI recently, so I'm thinking this might be a bug. Whatever it is, I'm hoping either the AI gets tweaked, or the bug gets fixed.

I had this same thing - doing the piracy thing
If you fired at them they would run away, call the police.

But if you find one without shields, you can just pop off a hatch breaker drone and take all their cargo, and they didnt seem to care.

I'm pretty sure they stop their engines because I assume they believe they are being pirated rather than destroyed.

The wingmate deal is spot on. I was pinged by a player in an FDL asking if I wanted to join their hunting party. We'd drop into whoever's wake and POW, done. Also, I've noticed NPC wings, their wing mates won't spawn until you attack them, which is nice because you end up spawning the others on your time table. Seems really... easy :(

For questions like these I recommend posting in the bug forum so QA can add it to the database or let you know that it's a known issue. Let discussion be an actual discussion on the gameplay/game systems.

There's already a bug post there.
