Aiming Railguns with a joystick: is it harder than with a mouse? How hard?

As I found out pretty quickly, aiming for internal modules with Super Penetrator Railguns is a very important part of PvP and PvE - and one at which I am pretty terrible at, for reasons that may or may not depend on my control method of choice.
I fly dual stick, with a Warthog in my main hand a T16000m in the other. The Warthog is definitely on the heavy side compared to other sticks.

So my questions are: do you module snipe with a joystick? If yes, which joystick?
Finally, what would you say your success ratio of module sniping is with your preferred control method?

I use an old Saitek X45, I can snipe modules with it most of the time if the ship isn't turning like a man possessed. Never tried to snipe with the mouse, I have always played with the HOTAS, sorry.

I tried dual cheap joysticks to see if it was better - the flight moves were easier because I didnt have to perform finger gymnastics, but my aim wasnt as precise as with a mouse. I am not sure if thats because my joysticks were cheap though rather than because of the input method.

If you are used to FPS headshots which rails are the equivalent of you gain here, but you lose on manouvering. I would fully advocate keyboard and mouse if FDEV would give relative mouse toggle which is quite needed imo. I can't see KB/M being good with VR though until you have your fingers ready beforehand and never stray far from your key inputs. Takes practice though, I tend to fit a couple of lasers from time to time to hone my aim in.

Cmdrs Alexander the Grape and PoaArctica both have no difficulty sniping modules in the highest level PvP with their dual sticks, so it is demonstrably achievable (at least, for some...)

I don't know how though, sorry. The other 95%+ of us rail gun PvP types use KB+M.

Got some longrange g5 on my vette, no issue sniping at 6km. But targeting modules helps allot with aiming

Kb/M is definitely easier, almost no learning curve hence why a lot of PvP'ers seem to prefer it. Joystick is fine for pinpoint accuracy, just takes practice, a lot of practice, and at least a basic level of hand to eye coordination.
