A rather enjoyable game.

Let me be clear. It is NOT a simulator. No way in hell can you have a real helicopter simulation on Xbox. The controller, even the HOTAS One, is too limited.

But! But as an arcade flight action game... Bloody brilliant! And brutal. It's going to take me some time to learn the game.

It's really rather good.

Does anyone else have it?

I tried the demo but wasn't very impressed.
I used to play a lot of simulators on pc with a hotas and as you already mentioned the Xbox controller is not the best way of playing these kind of games.
I must say though that I greatly enjoyed Air Combat 6 on the 360, I hope it'll be backwards compatible some day.

Ace Combat. Not Air Combat. Only the first game on PS1 was called that. Even then, the Japanese release was Ace Combat.

I don't know... I think HIND flies pretty well, all things considered.

It's unfair to compare the game to PC simulation. On its own... I think it holds up really well.

Ace Combat, you're right, it's been a while since I played it.
I wasn't comparing the game itself to a pc game, more so my experience playing it.
Hind does look cool, I remember playing Apache Longbow by Jane's combat simulations, it was great fun flying a chopper for a change instead of a fixed wing aircraft.

There's a great shortage of good flight games on the Xbox One, the 360 had a view but they're not backwards compatible.

Yee. I played IL-2 on 360. I refer to that time as the glory days.

Okay, I'm fully aware of your opinion on F2P games after WoT.

However, given we're on the topic of flight.

You should know that War Thunder is coming to Xbox.

It is?
That's good news, it looks pretty cool, I haven't realy looked into War Thunder though, I will now!!
I hope this isn't a game like WoT with a huge paywall, I've become allergic to those.

I would love a good WW2 air combat game on Xbox One, something like european air war or Il-2 or a modern jet sim like Flanker 2.0
I played Falcon 2.0 and EF2000 to death back in the days using a Suncom F15e flightstick, ugh those were the days.

In terms of flight model, War Thunder will basically have no competition on Xbox, ever. The game is made by Gaijin, who of course, made IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey, on Xbox 360.

A game I was rather good at PvP in. Now I might not be the best spacecraft pilot... But a single engine, linear of course, fighter plane?

I've been cracking my fingers in anticipation for a long time now. I know I could play on PC, but honestly, I don't enjoy PvP on PC. Too easy to receive salt thanks to in-built messaging. On Xbox, I can easily block that.

YMMV

War Thunder is at the top of my Xb wish list.
As a side note, being a model helicopter flyer of over 20 years, a Hotas has everything you need in terms of control.
It has joystick, yaw, throttle and plenty of options for pitch.

If you want to format a squadron...
