Powerplay Aisling Duval

After joining this faction for the last 5 weeks, and managing to get 750 merits for the last 3 weeks, I do not see how you can make any money in

the Aisling Duval faction in Powerplay? We do not seem to be able to get merits by killing hostiles just by ferrying around media items etc.

Unless you are bringing back cargo there is no money in it, unless I am missing something?

I think the credits needs to increase for the lower merit bands to make it worth continuing.:S

alot of people have agreed in general powerplay should give quite a few merits for systems of no fortification, up to near-zero once a system is already fortified (and the same or similar system for expansions/undermining), with exceptions of course to systems competing with undermining

this would cut down on the play-hours required for rank 5, allowing more casual players a chance to get their, it would cut down on the cost for non-combat PPers needed to maintain rank 5, and it would make earning your merits for the week quicker allowing you to choose, if you wish, to actually participate in other activities

but then again maybe PP was designed the way it is by FD so that more people play certain powers to stick to FD's "narrative", aswell as require a time commitment to hold players logged in as long as possible, like some mobile phone game

PP is meant to be a credit sink, not an extra source of revenue.

The community seems to be extremely conditioned that they are only supposed to earn and never invest towards a cause.

To add insult to injury, how about the 400CR payment for destroying an enemy ship. Let me get this straight, the enemy has infiltrated our system, and 400CR is meant to give me the incentive to submit to the interdiction, and lock horns with the enemy, when in all likelihood, the 400CR won't even cover ammunition. I would be telling my employer to walk away in short jerky movements.

Also, this media stuff we are hauling about, 20 tonnes worth in my case. That's one hell of a lot of data chips, or are we hauling mags with adverts slipped between the pages?

the problem is, unless youve been playing long enough to be in an anaconda, and therefore have no need for further money, most players cannot AFFORD to "invest" back into the power, because theyre trying to advance.

It's been 23 weeks already, I think most people have advanced enough.

No offense to the new guys like, probably, the OP,who this argument might apply for, but this doesn't hold a lot of water for the people who insist on grinding and calling PP bad, because they want a battle-conda and after that their credits still should only go up.

People who care about the power (and have both the time and the will available to help it) can have a trading conda within 4 weeks of undermining grinding, then use their paycheck to fortify and maintain rating 5 that way. In the end, this will both help their power immensely if they don't spend those merits blindly and give them free time to enjoy other parts of the game instead of being stuck in a docking bay waiting for quotas if that's not their thing.

Alternatively, people can do trade runs between picking up quotas, until full, then run them. That's also effective.

In the Mahonnaise, we ensure our Commanders have ready made trade routes that they can follow when fortifying, preparing or expanding to a system. This means, they can either make money and do some fortification. Break even and do more fortification. Or fast track and spend less then they otherwise would.

For small powers (player base wise), this sort of thing is essential. Larger powers can get by just letting shear numbers get things done as their benefits and bonuses attract lots of Commanders. Those same large powers often have combat focused activity, which unsurprisingly attracts still more. These powers don't need to work half as much as every has been set up for them to be easy mode. The flip side is you 'probably' don't have the same level of player made tools to help you get things done.

Still I wouldn't worry. WoW princes gets what? 2000 points of undermining a cycle?
