Albino Farming

So, I'm considering giving this a go since we have no idea if/when Frontier will make albinos more easily obtainable in Sandbox. What I want to do is get myself a black jaguar (even if they can't breed more black jaguars, I want one in my zoo even if it's just for show - I play with death turned off, so it can basically hang around forever), but I'm not entirely sure where to start.

How many habitats should I build? How closely do I have to keep an eye on breeding? I'm not hugely worried about immunity or fertility in this case, since I might not even breed it (jaguars breed like rabbits in the game anyway), so should I bother worrying about inbreeding?

My plan is to start a new zoo, and while the jaguars are breeding in the background I'll start work on the entrance and staff areas. Once I get my black jaguar I'll throw it in the trade centre until I'm ready to build a proper habitat for it.

I wish they'd just be available on the trading market from time to time. I don't want to start a forever lasting breeding project in sandbox. I'd prefer if every tenth generated animal of a species has a color variant. At least with the more common ones like tigers, lions and jaguars. Don't care too much about the other ones.

It's not forever lasting. Just one day should do, if you set up a breeding farm.
And since we now can breed with our blackies and whities, it would be rather disturbing if every 10th animal was a special one. Or did you mean the market-animals? It would be great, if we could see in advance a special coloured animal in the market. As it is, they are all looking the same, regardless if they are white or black or normal coloured.
And it would be great if Frontier would put albinotic/melanistic animals in the market. Perhaps with using a filter for them?

I see them fairly open on the market. Might just have been on a good day or something. My annoyance is that we can't breed for them like in Sandbox, have to wait for animals to be put up. The market has such a shortage on certain animals than getting a female can take some time.

Sorry, I was talking about sandbox-market of cause. ;) And you can't distinguish them there, they all look the same, regardless of their true colour.
In Franchise you are far better off, because you can buy your first blackie or whitie - whereas in sandbox you have to put up a massbreeding farm, wait hours on end and have to release about 2000 animals to the wild if you are done (just for ONE albino).

They used to appear in the market with proper colouring. Has anyone made a ticket for this? I found a boa constrictor on the exhibit market once that was albino.

Oh yeah that's true, but it depends on the animal. Some are easy to get (peafowl) others I have yet to even see. So I am not sure which one is better off XD

Then you are right, of cause. :)

I think in sandbox the animal-market shows normal coloured animalportraits only, whereas the exhibition-market shows the true colour.
And it was always like that for me (not playing beta, but since nov '19).
