Aldebaran The Giant Orange Star!

Hey everyone,

Just thought I would share a little find here. Found a rather large star! Apparently classified as an Orange Giant. Im no astronomer but I would imagine that is something similar to what scientists speculate our current sun will grow to at the end of its life. Anyways, a fun fact is that you jump in with the star being almost 200ls from you and at that distance it looks like a normally sized star. Like any other, but you are 200 light seconds out and its taking up most of your screen! This thing is huge! o_o

Funny enough, Iv never realized it on the map but its only 66ly's from SOL. Go figure! I found Aldebaran while thinking about taking a journey straight down from around the SOL region and out of Civilized Space that way.

And in game, Although it just doesnt do it justice on how big this thing really is!

FDEV need to work on stellar surface topography, Space engine does this wonderfully, Large orange and red giants have varying "mountains" and the surface is high distended as a show piece of a star nearing the end of its life.

If FDEV do this a TON of stars would actually look very different and not "samey" even though one is a young tau star or a very old aged orange giant.

Another one of these I found about 980lys from SOL is HR 268. Seems like on the map its shown as even bigger than the one I found. Maybe I will travel there some day...
