as of now is providing Galnet News pushed direct to your phone by free text message, click here.

After a couple of weeks testing, someone suggested a share. More feeds in next post.
No spam, updates occur in around 5 minutes of a new Galnet post on the main ED site.

Please post experiences below (for either method)
I've tried the PushBullet notification and that works well too. There are also Pushbullet desktop and browser clients should you want notifications to other devices.

Related to the use of IFTTT above, if you install the IFTTT app on your device you can push notifications to that device from an IFTTT recipe, if you don't want to use SMS.

Agreed .. an SMS that actively rings your bell might be considered a little hardcore ... makes one look Xtra popular though!! (quick check, raise eyebrow, phone in back pocket, cool as cucumber ) .. I actually like having that reminder though, a bit like having the newspaper delivered, otherwise I might not read it daily.

Depending on where you are in the world IFTTT will send between 10 -100 free SMS per month.
Currently under test (UK) I'm still getting SMS (with no limit approaching email) after 28 days.

One IFTTT feature I do like, is a temporary disable on any recipe(s), without having to delete the whole thing. Deactivate/ Reactivate at will.

Excellent job!

I probably should have clarified that you need to install Pushbullet on whatever device you want notifications on before subscribing.

Was on your website to check it out...

Thats really awesome solutions you people have created there!

Too bad I have only an old Win phone 7

You could also try this unofficial Pushbullet client for Windows Phone. I don't know if it supports notifications in the same way as android and iOS though http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/pushpin/b6764b31-9f2a-4ba4-9e00-aba343928459

Tutorial & Guide Writer
In the past your excellent tool, thread has been added to EDCodex. Before EDCodex was released on the 17th of August you have received in the period 5th - 10th of August a PM with an invitation and a special link. After registering and logging in you would automatically become owner of your entry. According to the admin tool(s) you haven't used the special link (yet). Perhaps you have missed the PM or have been (temporarily) away from ED. Its also possible you choose not to claim your entry. Note: Its also possible to assign another commander editing rights for your entry. In either case please send us a PM. You can find your EDCodex entry here.

Alternative way to get ownership
The special link will cease to function in the (near) future, for security reasons. Should you after that point want to become owner of your entry you can use the "Claim ownership" button. In that case please send biobob or myself a PM with the email addressed you used for registration - for verification. You can also use this procedure if you no longer have the PM.

What is EDCodex:
Its a website with a database of currently approx 215+ tools, threads, websites, videos for ED. Any one can and is encouraged to add entries there. EDCodex is and should be community-driven. EDCodex companion thread. Its equally suited for PC's, tablets and smartphones and has RSS feeds.

With kind regards,
Biobob
