Alien Machine Alternate use (Spoilers)

So, a lot of people have been trying to get a look at the supposed Thargoid bases or crashed ships (their true role/purpose is unclear), and the machine that can be accessed at one of the sites projects a pretty breath-taking spectacle when the right probes etc are used.

The most common theory, based upon the dazzling display, is that this machine is related to navigation in some way. That what is projected is some kind of galactic map. But I found this odd.

The room is full of egg-like structures, all over the place. Which seems a little odd. Obviously the Thargoids are aliens, so their methods may be completely 'alien'. But if they are eggs, it would be like having the bridge of a ship in the same room as the maternity ward in a hospital.

What if it's not a map room at all? What if it's a fertilization chamber, and the glowing display is a primer for spore-based fertilization? My theory probably seems odd when paired with the image that can be obtained from the signal in the chamber, which looks like an indication of where to go or find things. And one of the systems clearly indicates Merope. But what if that is meant for the newly hatched Thargoids, and simply shows them where to go? Where to set up their new home. What if it's a seeding ship?

Of course, I could be completely wrong.

Another Theory, just as plausible as every other imho.
As you said, who knows.
I think that whatever will come it will start at these Sites.
If you try to log off there it tells you that you will be moved outside for safety reasons.
Maybe these things will rise out of the Ground? Or it's what you think, and it will give birth to the Thargoid Invasion Force handing them a map where to go. Very interesting times. Though I was getting bored with Alien Cutscenes I must say that this really is fun to explore and I'm starting to get a little excited again...

.

Knew that naming my ship the USCSS NOSTROMO would come back and haunt me one day. Thanks god I don't have a 1st officer called Kane....

Maybe in a tharg's eyes, having the bridge / navcomp in a separate room seems inefficient? Maybe the eggs are there for light refreshment? Who knows :D

A valid point. After all, the Thargoids are aliens, so their methods and design aesthetics may be just as foreign.
