I wrote this a few years ago ...
Twas the night before the night before Christmas, that's now in your house
no keyboard was typing, no moving the mouse.
The PC is whirring, under your desk there,
And Facebook is hoping you comment with care
Grammar sticklers are watching everything that you say
Looking for mistakes that you send their way
A storm is blowing and howling outside
Your pets are laid by the fire that's glowing inside
Two nights from now, into your home
A merry old man will enter with a Ho Ho Ho Ho
He'll leave you those things your wrote and wished for
And all this will happen, while you lay there and snore
The young ones will wake and jump up and jump down
Nowhere in sight will any of them frown
No cries of sadness will be heard on that morn
But all the wrapping paper, will be tattered and torn
You'll wake up to find these noise and good cheer
And seasonal films on TV will blast in your ear
You'll have to explain that Santa has been
And pretend these are toys that you've never seen
The turkey will start cooking four hours before
you all want to eat, 'till you can eat no more
The Queen will talk about the year that we've had
She'll probably mention the deaths so sad
And that night we'll all sleep again
We'll grumble and mumble because work still remains
And before you know what more there is to do
Christmas comes again, for me and for you
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.
