Aliens? More than just thargoids perhaps....

Well, aliens includes the Guardians. Which may have some relationship with Thargoids. Maybe AI related.

I am hoping more than just these 2. In the original Elite, the lore suggested that many of the systems you visited was teeming with alien life. I recall one Feline species of alien at least.

Guardians created Thargoids as a weapon. IMO Thargoids are the ships, they're biological weapons rather than a race of beings that use the ships as weapons.

Ah forgot about the guardians and just remembered the thargoid map rooms reacted violently to guardian tech. Possibly this could be our next source of defense?

A.i. is another area I would love to see in the ed universe, i know the existing canonn has outlawed it but this backstory seems flexible, with certain things being omitted or written out of the official history.

And UAs are Guardian AIs which switch to organic computers from implants as their hardware of choice and use Thargoids they control as vessels for themselves, while the bioweapon vanilla Thargoids are still programmed to destroy them by the religious fanatics who doomed their race to extinction.

Now the AIs don't want a war really, they just want to be left in peace, while the bioweapons haven't just figured out humans as a target yet. At some point this is going to change, when the AIs use us as convenient way to at least occupy their enemies while they . Guess ideally for the AIs, both humans and Thargoids annihilate each other and they can go on doing whatever AIs are doing.

Well outlawed for a reason, so likely there was a Human made Rogue AI at some point

Pretty sure Braben was on record as saying there was more than just Thargoids out there.

Indeed, and we have several Permit locked regions, that could be set aside for others

What are the Leviathans (big, seemingly crashed objects at the Unknown structure)?

I have never seen anyone else really talk about this (probably some one has and I missed it), but I believe those big leviathan things at the unknown structures are another kind of alien life form that are not Thargoid or Guardian related. Canonn and the Elite wiki doesn't really even seem to describe them specifically which I find odd. They just mention "Thargoid Surface Sites consist of a central, organic-like structure in a crater or depression at the center of a spiral geologic formation with more organic formations protruding from the spiral’s eight arms".

These objects where one of the first things that jumped out at me when I visited these places. They looked like organic ships (or creatures) that have crashed or been "shot down" by the Unknown structure to me. Perhaps the unknown structure is like an "anti aircraft site/battery", or a lure that traps these big leviathans like flies in a spiders web.

I couldn't help but wonder (given the size of these beasts) what it would be like to see them flying in open space, they are huge!

Any one else think they are a different kind of alien race...or has the nature of these objects been deciphered already and I am way off track? :D [alien]

Being that part of the current CG is to ship in artifacts from Ancient sites for employment in missile manufacturing, we already are. :D

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Yeah, I hope we discover more out there as well. The mention of rouge AI out in the black was really interesting. :)

Seconded.

The galaxy needs more types of Alien species such as in the game Stellaris.

Some can be primitive, and others very advanced.

The Atari ST version had many species - avians, felines, etc. I think they were also mentioned in the manual.

"The world Arexe is fabled for its exciting sit coms and its inhabitants' ancient loathing of sit coms."

Oh dear, my skim reading of cg's notes has caught me out lol. Wouldn't care done about 5000t of explosives to Liz Ryder haha. And 1000t of resonating potatoes to that Palin fella. Eyes on the prize ;)

Say no to space Furries.

I'd love it if Elite Dangerous focused more on the non-generic Sci-Fi tropes when it comes to Aliens... less advanced Earth species from another planet, and more something that is truly Alien.

Thargoids are already known to be a hive-like driven insectoid race, so sadly they're already established as a rather generic race in themselves... but further entities Frontier decide to introduce into the ED universe will hopefully be less 'big book of tropes', and more something that explores real Alien ideas.

They aren't leviathans, they are just massive "petals" similar to how the thargoid interceptors look, just heavily damaged or all flesh stripped away to reveal the alloys or "bone".
