FD have gone on record to say that there only Humans and Thargoids in the ED Universe, BUT with the large amount of uncharted space it does allow for the possibility to stumble across new races in the distant future.

Obviously it would make sense to discover the Thargoids first, and have meaningful storylines based around them. But should we have the possibility to find other races after that?

I voted maybe because although I'm not opposed to the idea of alien races, I see little point in having them if they don't actually 'bring anything to the table'. A furry feline wanting to purchase some computer parts doesn't really bring that much does it?

I think it's inevitable in the long run.

Personally, I'd like rare and enigmatic fleeting encounters with basically UFOs. No contact actually made, never intercepted or destroyed, no idea who they are. They just turn up from time to time and then essentially vanish.

FD could keep that up for years before dragging them into the game.

In reality, it is likely that millions of intelligent lifeforms exist, or have existed, in our galaxy.

I do think that Elite would benefit from the addition of extra alien species, but who knows, maybe they're adding that sort of thing unannounced?

If they were to add extra species, I would guess that they would allow 'explorers' to discover that sort of thing rather than add it to a changelog.

Alien races will be in the game.

But maybe not how you look at it :)

When we get planetary landings and the feature big game hunting, it will take place on different planets whit an exotic fauna and breeds that just have been evolved on that planet. So I think we will se a large difference of life forms.

However Higher intelligence lifeforms cud also been evolved that stand beyond the mankind so in a realistic way I would say yes.

As I se the space today. People are scared of aliens but what scare me most is to think that if Earth is the only planet in the hole milky way that contain intelligent life forms.
Iam sure there is millions of planets out there that host intelligent lifeforms.

Lower forms of life is undeniably unavoidable if you're allowed out there for some big game hunting. But it would be nice to stay on the top of the foodchain otherwise, so in the context of alien *competition* I voted no. Because that is safest... we know all about how aliens serve man. :D

I think there will be other alien races other than Humans and Thargoids but Frontier have no intention of telling us about them or where they are likely to be encountered. If there aren't any other sentient alien races in the game then I would have to ask Frontier what exactly is the point of exploring the outer reaches of the galaxy and being able get out of your ship and land on planets if there is nobody on said planets that we can interact with.

when walking around is possible , I would like to hitch a ride on a alien ship.
I mean there should also be ships we cannot fly our selves because they are too alien.
for example water filed cockpits and the like.
or 2G space stations rotating that fast because thats what these aliens are used to.
forcing you to move around in carts course you just cant walk there.

I like aliens, even the evil ones, I really do.
But in games they just turn out to be humans in a different body with mostly very human motivations.
What is the use of adding them? It will be just a gimmick.

Thargoids are already in. They belong to the Elite universe and I am fine with that. They represent the classic alien danger.

What I would like though is adding an intelligent alien species that is unapproachable and truly alien. I have mentioned it before elsewhere on this forum.
I would like the rare possibility of encountering their impressive far advanced alien ships which completely ignore humans and do stuff we can not understand and can only speculate about. We might see them entering stars for example.
We might discover a huge alien dyson sphere and observe alien ships entering it and leaving it, but we are unable to follow them inside. We might even be allowed to land on the huge sphere, but we can not even scratch it. Or we might discover the systems these aliens live in. We can see the signs of super advanced habitation on the planets, but are held back by invisible force fields from entering the atmosphere of their planets. Sometimes a ship might approach us and then leave again without even trying to communicate. etc. etc.

I want there to be no explanation in the game ever. I do not want us to be able to contact these aliens ever. They should be a total mystery.

We might monetize on them with tourism. We can visit their systems with our passenger ships. But there will be no trade, no exchange of technology or information, no communication at all. We should not even know what they look like.

(I was assuming you were talking about intelligent alien races. It is already confirmed there will be alien flora and fauna, or whatever it is classified as, in the game.)

I disagree. Lifeforms I consider indeed very likely, but (what we consider) intelligent life is another matter entirely. There is no reason to assume that intelligence would be such a common occurrence. In biological evolution it is not a necessary trait at all. No more than having a trunk or tentacles.
Considering the size of the universe, and therefore considering the enormous odds, I think it likely there will be other intelligent lifeforms, but they might not even be found in this galaxy.

Meh. I'm not fussed. I actually like SF scenarios like Firefly where humanity is the only known intelligent (?) life form, but who knows what might be out there?
