Alignment and FS jumps

Does anyone else notice that you get an alignment notice and delay during FSD charge complete even though you're completely aligned?

I have to boost in order for it to clear which is kinda not cool when that boost is being done in a planets atmosphere; or when you're too close to a sun.

Has to do with the direction your ship is going.

bigger ships do it more than smaller ones. Cause of the drift.

I'v noticed a lag and the notice, even in a smaller ship, an Asp. It started after the 2.07 update. Even when low waking (going to SC from normal space), I sometimes get the alignment notice even though you don't need to align with anything to go to SC. It goes away on its own, regardless of your alignment or target.

It's an obvious bug, but a minor one.

Thanks for the replies! 07

Never thought of the drift. I had a feeling lag also had something to do with it as it would get a bit worse when watching Netflix.

It's really not a bug, the alignment msg is referring to any residual drift. Even when going to SC, drift has to be virtually non existent, the ship has to be moving in the direction the nose is pointing before you low wake.

Perhaps, but it only started as far as the SC ones about a week ago. The delay in high wake got worse at the same time. Thursday last week. I haven't updated anything on my main gaming computer and the only thing that changed was the update for 2.07. It smells like a bug, tastes like a bug, etc.

Yes, I've noticed. It usually occurs when i'm being shot at, shields down, and I need to escape NOW. Swearing at the screen as it tells me to align, which I've been doing for several seconds already.

It's all to do with the direction you are travelling in. Your ship needs to be both facing & travelling in the direction of the alignment notice in order for you to make the jump. It has been around since before 2.07 & is simply a bit of a nod to Newtons Laws of motion...

Best practice: Boost away from the mass lock (station, planet) source, then immediately turn FA Off and rotate craft towards FSD target. As soon as mass lock indicator turns off, charge FSD. Depending on the FSD vector, wait until you are sure not to end up in the mass lock zone again when changing the flight vector (roughly max half FSD load), then turn FA on and boost.

Even with big ships like the cutter, I usually have no delay in jumping the ship.

Be aware of your radar as often NPCs will take the chance to suicide-ram-attack you, and you may not see them out of the window. If you have PvP enabled, some players will do the same. For some reason, they are often called 'griefers'.

Low wake doesn't require alignment. At least it didn't until 2.07.
