All alone

I seem to have found a back water of space. I play only open so I am not hiding but I never see anyone. Just wondering if anyone else has found out just how big space can be, and enjoys it too. If I ever see anyone they had better answer comms though.

I can't talk to anyone outside of the system i am in thanks to a comms bug, so i feel your pain. I'm in Alliance area of space, HE BO, Sobek, those kind of systems, i probably see about 2 real people a day :D

I will say, its really quiet where I am. I bought this to play open play, with others. But up to this point I feel like i'm playing single player. Not a fan of single player games typically.

Makes you wonder why a Solo mode had to exist when its so easy to get away from any living players.

I have seen one Commander since launch, but only for about 12 seconds.
Been through: LHS 3447 and Sol, and every system between and few dozen other "high activity" areas like Lave.

Still only seen one Commander in Open Play.

Open play is almost the same than solo play right now, with some luck you might see some player but thats all.. sadly

I believe those not seeing too many people even in high traffic area are behind NAT and have ports closed. This is one disadvantage of using peer to peer, not everyone will be able to play it.

Someone said hello to me once but I missed it as I didn't notice the message until I was about to jump to another station

that we weeks ago...

Space is a big. I mean really big.

The farther out from the starting system you are the fewer people you will see, if you follow the ingame news bullitens they will mention the ( hotspots ) in the galaxy where there is fighting between alliances etc, a lot of people will head to those places for the pvp/pve fighting in the low/high fighting areas, i was down in Sorbago when there was trouble there, but now the ingame news has changed and the trouble spots have moved elswhere, so a lot of people will always watch the news and travel there for the action.

It sucks that this is a p2p networking game. I can understand why though. Server maintenance and costs for a true mmo (not this quasi-WAN game we have now), are pretty high, and without monthly income, subscription fees, I don't think that FD could handle the financials. However, network/computer security in a p2p game like this is bad, to say the least.

So.. solo mode only for me; at least, until FD makes a decision to make this either a solo/group only game or a true mmo game. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to allow complete strangers access to my network.

Its interesting to check out the extent of the bit we know and then scroll out to see the whole galaxy and how much there is...
