All big(ger) ships maneuver too well....

If you take away the maneuverability of the larger ships you doom them to constant death when they fight smaller ships. Back in Beta 1 they were far less maneuverable, as a result it was very difficult to fight one on one with smaller ships. In group fights where their are always distant targets not paying attention to you yes they are deadly. Until we have crew/player served turreted weapons these ships need their maneuverability to be viable in combat. I have seem eagles take out Elite Anaconda's in game as it is now.

I don't think Anacondas are made for one-on-one fights with, well, fighters. Still, I'm pretty sure that turrets are too weak right now. I don't have very much first-hand experience with them, but it always seems like it's the gimballed weapons that are the biggest threat when I fight larger ships (if they can bring them to bear).

I've seen a Sidewinder take out an Elite Anaconda. That has more to do with the AI than anything else.

Thats only true in player vs NPC encounters, a good human pilot can easily counter a manoeuvrability advantage so long as he has a better overall offensive/defensive capability.

I wasnt aware players could shoot backwards when fighting other players

when an opponent is more maneuverable than you, the only time you can "make up for that" maneuverability disparity is if your target is an idiot, so what your saying is, pythons and anacondas should only be good for oneshotting noobs

as for the "defensive'offensive" disparity, were talking about players, the guy in the viper is likely using fixed beams or pulses of a decent grade, so even an anaconda's shields will only last so long, as for the offensive difference, the viper can constantly hit with 2 fixed beams/pulses and gimballed cannons to hammer on the reactor, and the anaconda can do what? fire backwards with the magical backwards firing weapon? he cant use turrets, because those weapons are anemic even without the opponent using chaff.

no, viper v anaconda, unless the viper pilot is incedibly inexperienced, the anaconda loses, even if the anaconda is flown by the best player in the game, there is only a moderate skill level required by the viper pilot to invalidate ALL of the conda's experience because he, quite simply, can sit in his blindspot with nothing the anaconda can do to fight it

Lateral idea, perhaps the engine's jet should damage smaller target in it's way. Deterrent against close distance circle strafing.

I'm almost to a combat fit Conda so please duel me in a Viper when I get there.

Or are you incredibly inexperienced in which case your opinion is invalid.
