All Frag Gunship?

So, purely for gits and shiggles, last night I climbed into my Gunship, stored all the weapons (AX build) and replaced them all with fixed Frags, as I want to up my fixed weapons skills.

Went to a RES site and had a tryout. Promising, but Frags being kinetic meant that stock Frags weren't doing much to shields. Took me 10 minutes(!) to take down a Deadly Adder's shields! Ok, partly that was my aiming (which is currently hilarious) but even solid hits weren't doing as much as I'd like.

So...Engineering. Recommendations?

Overcharged, add incendiary to some of them, aim better ... hilarity ensues :p

Actually I'm not a big fan of fixed frags (except Pacifiers), if not engineered already give gimballed frags a try. They work a lot better.

Well, partly the idea is to force me to get better with fixed, but in hindsight PAs or rails might be better for that. I just kinda like the idea of an an all-Frag Gunship. I'll rename it 'Boomstick' :)

I've ran one of these, absoloutely wonderful.

Apart from engineering (incendary, corrosive), make sure you are at point blank range when firing. Also i recommend double shot as the main mod except for on the corrosive.

If you do it right you just melt almost anything with a single volley, two at tops, except for big or high ranked ships.

You might also consider screening shell for faster reloads.

Thought i had a video, here we go:

PS: Don't forget to follow up with a ram. You should be heavily armoured and do good ram damage.

And remember you're not doing AoE damage, you do damage per pellet that hits. That means small and/or distant targets take much reduced damage. You're best rubbing your nose on the target's hull or shoot at the broadside of a T-10.

this is because adders are tiny and unless you're putting the barrel of the gun directly against the side of their ship 90% of the pellets will miss

seriously I can drop a conda's shields faster with stock frags than I can an adder or eagle, my first trip out I remember blasting an eagle with both barrels and watching as the pellets marked a neat perfect circle exactly centred upon the eagle, without any of them actually hitting it

I'd love to have Pacifiers in other sizes than large, or a mod that mimics the effect on normal frags. My Pacifier Vulture is one of my all time favourite ships.

Edit: Agony_Aunt's vid just reminded me there's the drag effect for frags. A good option for the second small HP.

Yeah, I'd been hoping for some larger targets to tryout against, but the RES site wasn't playing. I'd have done the re-instance boogie but I was still having fun :)
