Newcomer / Intro All my modules are dirty & authorities won't help.

Dirty becasue definitely not clean 👀 - after I became wanted with one faction (I attacked some remote planetary station) the modules of my ship are wanted too o_O - at first I was thinking this can be erased at authorities, but apparently it's not so simple - I have to pay separately to clean each module, a lot of credits for expensive parts, and sometimes even this isn't possible, like for the installed modules and weapons. What should I do, store them first manually and then clean by paying and re-store again to ship? 🤪
Who the heck invented this 🤐 functionality and how long was thinking about it. The ship modules suffering from my illegal actions, just like they were living beings with free will, lol.
The pilot should only be responsible, not his ship, period.

You should really try reading some of the C&P threads where this was talked about - never take modules out of dirty ships - pay off the fines etc first... simples

Edit: Or even read the Pilot Handbook

Ok, so there is a Hot Ship issue. As pilots we don't have any commands to steer the ship automatically, cannot order ship to fly from port A to port B and buy wares. In the same time the ship can be treated more severely than it's pilot, who in fact did the illegal actions with this ship. Once the pilot is already clean, his ship is still hot with a bounty :ROFLMAO:.
Then we - clean pilots - must take the hot ship to some interstellar community to clean it, right, go to automatic ship wash and clean it 🤪.
Damn, it doesn't have any sense...

So, if I destroy my hot ship in hope the bounty will go away, will the new ship I'll get from insurance also hot? :cautious:

But it was an accident, and I'm innocent 😇.

I attacked the station accidentally pressing wrong trigger, I thought it was a scanner:rolleyes:, then the station defence ship took off and attacked me, I was defending myself and killed the ship, so I returned and killed all turrets and drones, okay it was a revenge, but in self defence. Mostly :sneaky:.

So the question was:
if I destroy my hot ship in hope the bounty will go away with it, will the new ship from insurance be also hot?

It seems... yes.
Once the ship was destroyed at the nearest asteroid, I used rebuy and got the same Hot Ship as before with illegal modules.
I'm out of words, I literally bought a brand new ship with illegal modules, that's even possible?

The idea behind putting the fine on a ship and not the pilot was to curb unwanted gameplay of racking up a huge bounty and then clearing it by destroying your ship. As before once the pilot was killed the bounty was also removed from the pilot. Now the bounty follows the ship that caused the criminal act. So blowing up does nothing to change the status of the fine.
So with this method for crime and punishment a CMDR can not subvert the fine by stripping all the engineered modules and slapping them on a new clean ship and resume pillaging. The modules are also flagged as hot to prevent this.
After racking up a fine "by accident" you can clear the fine at an interstellar factor once your notoriety returns to zero, which just takes game time to simmer. Like a laying low from the law if you want to RP it that way. You can still enjoy the game in another clean ship while waiting. Leaving all your modules on the ship with a fine is ideal when you go to pay off the penalty, as you should be able to clear all debut in one go. by removing modules you are just creating more work to clean them.

It's not actually a "new" ship, its more akin to restoring a save point (the last station you docked at). If it was new, you would not have any upgraded modules, engineering, paint schemes or ship kits applied. Now you can for whatever reason opt for this sort of rebuy by unchecking all your modules and equipment on the rebuy screen, leaving only the base ship.
As for a valid in game reason how this works is beyond me. Insurance and rebuy is obviously nothing like real world insurance who will attempt to pay for repair cost, or simply give you what they feel is the value of the totaled "ship" which leaves you with almost no debt and also no craft.

I don't fully understand C&P.
I don't need to!
Any fines or bounties and I immediately visit my friendly neighbourhood Interstellar Factor for a nice cup of tea and a legal chat.

Professional criminals know how it works. And probably don't care.

lol i get a mental picture of @Speedcuffs walking into the Interstellar factor's office quietly, as the clerk behind the desk immediately lets out a long sigh while asking "ok who did you side swipe now?"

The problem is I have zero notoriety and already tried to find the interstellar factor locations with the galaxy map, trying various settings, but it shows me nothing.

As per the wiki. https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Interstellar_Factors
To find systems with Interstellar Factors Contacts in game, open the galaxy map and set it to map mode. Then, select 'services' from the drop-down menu and tick 'Interstellar Factors'. Systems with stations that have an interstellar factors contact will now show up as a green dot.

Or, you can use the Inara site and type in the system you are currently in to find the nearest interstellar factor.

Filter for low security systems.
Filtering for IFs and Mat traders is a bit useless tbh.

Well next time maybe I'll take the trip and beg the factors to take my money in return for cleaning ship 🧐. But not today...
Today I stored the ship modules, cleaned them manually, jumped to another ship and sold the Hot Asp. Then bought a brand new clean Asp, installed cleaned stored modules. Applied paintings and bobbleheads. I have new ship without bounty now.
Not the cheapest way, but my way, and credits doesn't matter, if thanks to them I can avoid going where I'm forced to go.

I'll try the filtering with low security systems next time...
