In Pennsylvania, "nittany lion" is a term for the now-extirpated (outside of Florida) cougar populations in the Eastern United States; the nittany lion is also Penn State University's mascot.

In Brazil the most common name I see is indeed Suçuarana (as mentioned by @Utahraptor104), but they are also sometimes referred as onça-parda (which can be translated into brown jaguar).

In Chile it's tipically called Puma, but in the southern regions it's also called Pangui (from Mapudungun language) or simply Lion.
