All things considered, I think the original Elite and Frontier Elite 2 are better games than Elite Dangerous.

OP, could it be that your imagination doesn't have to work quite as hard as it did? Much of the game in Elite and FFE came alive in our minds because of the lack of fidelity due to hardware restrictions.

We don't need to work our brains pans as hard anymore.

If you'll look at the post I made that's 3 above your own, you'll see why I think Elite is better than ED, and why I think Elite is a better designed game in terms of gameplay.
