All this hub bub about SC... Will it effect Elite: Dangerous?

Listening to the first 20mins of this podcast https://youtu.be/H6bsPGYHAgc?t=161 I gotta say it puts a lot into perspective in regards to what developers like Frontier Developments have to deal with as well as the guys behind Star Citizen and how Star Citizen might not actually deliver anything in the end.

Will this have any impact on Elite: Dangerous what with the recent negative rap RSI is getting? Speed up or slow down development of much anticipated expansions for E: D?

I've said it for a while now I always thought SC would flop and if any company could pull it off it would be FD, they did deliver a lot in Elite: Dangerous and all the game mechanics are there and solid... it just needs a lot of stuff put in.

Frontier deliver at a slow, steady and regular pace. Even if the game was left as it is today, we have a viable game (although with a ton of stuff "missing").

I don't think we have anything to worry about in regards to Elite, I think that will keep going for the next few years at the very minimum.

I'd actually be more concerned as to how it would effect crowd funding as a whole if things ended up going bad for Star Citizen. It's a high profile game, and if it failed, it could bring crowd funding crashing down with it.

Good points, I hate to say this on these forums even though I am not an EVE player, but EVE Valkyrie may be more of an initial problem..

From what I understand, SC suffers from overblown production, and personally, I don't like them selling ships and gear. I don't see ED reaping the consequences of SC's failure / success, but it might have an effect on the perception of crowdfunding in general. At least for a while; people seem to forget after time has passed. Take Zach Braff's "Wish I Was Here" Kickstarter as an example.

No Man's Sky looking the most attractive to me right now. Of course that might not emerge as anything resembling what people hope for either. In fact that's likely.

But it has escaped the toxicity so far. Why? No Kickstarter (yet). No paid access to any "vertical slice" nonsense. No , basically (yeah you can give me an infraction for that acronym, I'm well past caring).

At this stage almost any original new game would take me away from here, but the industry seems to be in a huge lull as far as my tastes go.

I'm not really a big fan of Star Citizen. (Because of Pay to Win, That it still is not NEARLY finished etc)

But although i really not care about it, i hope it dosen't fail so that crowdsourcing does not collapse.

It would be tragic if one huge game collapsed and ruined crowdfunding.

Too late chums, Early Access and crowdfunding's names are already mud. And this particular game threw another big log on that pyre.

You can't listen to the haters, they been spouting the same for a long time now and it's a fact that SC isn't vaporware or anything like that they do have big dreams though and as such it will take the time it will take to make.

I sometimes think it's some of them, hateful Eve players starting this nonsense as they're scared of SC.. I mean look how damn long it took CCP to get valkyrie out there.

As for ED as much as I enjopy the game Sc and other games like no mans sky will keep me away from this game especially as they seem to be hell bent on stuff I am not interested in...like PP and console junk.

You know what they say about ED.... an inch deep and a mile wide and it's sticking because there's some truth to it.
