Newcomer / Intro Alliance and dropship?

There is lots of talk about going to empire space and getting a clipper, but what about Alliance space for a dropship? Does anyone have experience of the dropship to share?

Powerdriver1 is just confused. He is talking about the Federal Dropship but he thinks that that ship belongs to the Alliance instead of the Federation.

I just happen to be in alliance space and saw the dropship for sale. It was more a general question of working on the alliance rank rather than Empire (which seems very popular)
The dropship seems to be a fairly useful ship so consider it a second question as to whether its actually any good . :)

If I understand you correctly, you want to buy Federal Dropship. In order to do that, you need to rank up with Federation, not the Alliance. You need "Ensign" rank or higher.

On paper, the dropship is outperformed in every area by cheaper ships, to the extent that very very few have ever bought one. Good luck on getting first hand advice.

It might be a pile of (cool-looking) crap, but they're still more common than Orca :)
