Alliance based ships and Alliance Reputation.

Will the newly announced Alliance based ships coming in Beyond, require Alliance Rank? I am not opposed to such an idea, I just hadn't heard anything about that in the Live-stream. Does anyone have any relevant information or cogent speculation?

If they gonna lock more ships behind ranks, they need to make ranking fun.

Or we need to find the fun in ranking. They need to create a good stable game with engaging mechanics. "fun" is too subjective to be a useful barometer of quality. It is frequently within our power to actually decide to have fun, or not to.

I'm going to be moving some of my Passenger Ship service out to Alliance territory, so any gained reputation along the way will contribute.

No info as such. They did say that the Chieftan was developed by the Alliance in partnership with Lakon, so there may be no rank requirement. Alliance content was promised by Mr Braben, not soon, many moons ago.

If there is I would hope that it is not a cookie cutter version of the imps or feds.

It would require the Alliance form a unified organisation in the first place, not something that would likely come lightly to the relatively loose gathering of more or less independent worlds making it up. I don't remember reading anything about such an effort, and if I had to guess, I'd rather expect something like the Rangers from B-5 as an "extra-political" militia that's loosely affiliated with but not controlled by the Alliance.

I'd like to see it linked to the Council of Admirals somehow- maybe each admiral has a faction that you need to get allied with to unlock the ship (rather than go the classic way which people love so well) like some engineers.

The Alliance does have a unified organisation called "Alliance Navy" or something like that.
Every system that is part of the Alliance has to contribute a few ships to the Alliance Navy.

The Alliance Navy is controlled by six Admirals that come from the six largest systems population wise.


I'm currently only at the beginning of season 3 of B5 so I don't have much knowledge of the Rangers yet. ^^


FD has neglected Alliance lore for years, so not much is known. And that what has been known in previous games has partially been retconned.

It's pretty much that, but with better ships You will Know More by the end of season 3.

I don't think the alliance ship will be locked. I don't think there is any rank progression with the alliance iirc. Unless they unlock with planetary permits, which would be a new mechanic. I reckon they'll be available to all. The alliance is a rag tag bunch...
