Alliance crusader another large hardpoint

The Alliance Crusader needs another large hardpoint. It is kinda garbage across the board being weaker than the fighters it can deploy. Meanwhile the Krait Mk 2 is at least better than a fighter, and still gets 2 fighters and a better power plant. The Alliance Crusader is just not a good ship at all and with another large hardpoint it actually would at least be better than a vulture or a deployable fighter.

There’s plenty in the AX community that still think it’s the best against Interceptors, which is exactly what it was build for in Lore.

Edit: just realised I was thinking of the wrong ship 🤦‍♂️

It just sucks really bad and isn't even good for what is it's intended purposes imo which is Multicrew with a gunner and fighters. The Krait mk 2 has 3 large hardpoints, and 2 mediums and a larger power plant so as a combat ship it kinda rocks for ripping apart ships and it has decent internals so I can easily gather materials or enhance it's jump range as well as a far more well rounded ship. I really want to like alliance crusader but it lacks in all departments.

That's been well known since it arrived. Why else do you think it has so many Odyssey crew slots? They had to try and give it some purpose.

Although comparing it to a Krait mk2 is unfair. A more expensive ship is always going to be better. Although with so many ships in the game, there were always going to be some that were a swing and a miss.

Only change I'd like for the crusader is unlocking the military slots. It gets a bit restrictive if you're carrying a fighter bay; hard to fit your module reinforcements effectively.

That and MAYBE swapping one small to a medium.

One of the things I like about Elite is that some of the ships are more flawed than others, it adds to the realness that there are equivalents of Boulton-Paul Defiants available.

If they buffed the gunner slots while in use in some way I think it would go a long way into making it more viable. Like halving the distro cost and thermal generation while in use, or adding some form of ammo Regen to kinetic weapons similar to how fighters Regen ammo. Then at least it would serve a purpose for a Multicrew ship.

I like the looks of the Crusader the most out of the three. I doubt they will be adding guns to any ship in the game, ever. I live with it's shortcomings and built a dedicated dropship for teaming up with friends to pound ground targets. Perfect ship for the task.
