Is the Crusader any good for PvP, or is a Challenger the better choice? I have a Crusader but it's so slow I made it into a fueltank with srb rails, great for PvE.

Just because. I find the flight model to be quite stable, even though the ship has less firepower and speed than the chief. It does have more armor though

Challenger has more firepower, maneuverability and speed. Crusader is more stable I find, but is about 20m/s slower (460 vs Challenger's 480ish with a similar loadout)

It's just one of those things. I didn't see the ship being used that much in PvP and decided to build one.

FDL cannot hull tank because it has only few optional. IMHO it is an assisted suicide. In the hands of a good pilot quite all ships are good for pews, so I agree but....my Cobra has approximately 3x hull vs the average FDL

My cobra has 2900 armor with 2 mrp and boosts to roughly 591

My biree FDL is sitting at about 550mj+2600 hull if I remember right.

Definitely at a disadvantage, but that doesn't stop me from beating on metabois from time to time.

If you can't evade, you really get punished lol.

For me too and I'm not even good. It's just so much fun to fly and you can make it into a shield tank, bi-weave light or heavy, shieldless, with PAs, rails, beams, cannons,...... Of course some combos are better than others, but they all kinda work due to the flight model.

There is a reason it's been the go to PvP ship since forever.

Nothing rules out a bi-weave 'shield tank'.

I think I am the only person in the game who can't stand the FDL, no matter what I do a stall like crazy all the time and get wrecked.

The Gunship? That hunk of bricks flies just right, does exactly what I want it to do. Best ship in the game! I've got four, all G5 ready to go!

I quite like the challenger, I might try the crusader--it looks kinda fun.

Admittedly some annoying FDL's do dance out of the way (everyone else seems to fly them just fine) so I have been known to use a ram or two when the chance presents itself!

The FDL has behaved oddly with a tendency to stall out ever since they jacked up it's rotationals in 1.5. Try to avoid applying direct counter thrust and accelerate at a less extreme angle relative to it's current movement vector.

Despite my long held fondness for the Gunship I've been enjoying the Challenger recently... You get get some serious numbers from that hull!

I've basically just accepted the FDL is not for me and moved on
