Allow accepting missions regardless of current ship loadout

So this thread retriggered this feature suggestion that has been floating around in the deep dark recesses of my mind, renewed every time I can't accept a mission because I'm missing 2t of cargo space or whatever.

Current Situation:
Cannot accept missions which require certain ship modules (eg, passenger cabins, cargo space, ...). By the time the relevant modules have been installed, the mission board no longer offers that mission.

Feature Suggestion:
While browsing the Mission Board, if I see a lucrative mission, and assuming I fulfil the faction requirements, I should be able to accept it regardless of my current ship / ship loadout. I should then be able to swap ship / install relevant modules before loading the cargo/passengers and embarking on the mission.

Being able to partially-load cargo missions and complete them in stages already goes part-way towards supporting this kind of idea.

I agree with this. It's annoying that a mission needing a different ship can't be taken, and by the time I've gone to the shipyard switched to the right ship, gone back to the mission board it's vanished.

The warning is good - CAUTION THIS NEEDS A MEDIUM OR SMALLER SHIP but surely once we've seen that we can decide to take the mission or not.

Not being allowed to access missions that need a higher reputation with the faction very much makes sense.

What is even more annoying is you can accept wing sourcing missions, whether or not you have space for them, but you can't accept a salvage mission because of lack of space. Whats the difference.

The only few tweaks I would add was. It adds a different Colour or a warning with a yes or no saying your ship not configured to this type of mission. So people can't go. I accepted a mission or not.

Because you can still complete the mission in your current ship, it will just take longer without help maybe?

In theory with the wing sourcing missions you could be making your minions do all the actual carrying while you supervised.

Or, in the case of missions offered while out in space...

Please don't bother offering me anything my current ship can't do, because you're just wasting my time having to look at this "INCOMING MISSION CRITICAL MESSAGE!", which it's not, is it...

It's more like an "INCOMING FACTION ADVANCEMENT OFFER.", without the "!", cos it's an offer, not some mandatory imminent death warning that's going to punish you for ignoring it, right?

So, as long as you're going to add some new dialogue to the COVAS, maybe we could also have one along the lines of "INCOMING TIME CRITICAL MESSAGE!" if we're really close to a target.

Cooler still, would be a voice acted interactive video dialogue with the mission NPC, and the option to take any mission if we know there's a bird in our fleet that can do the job within the time limit.

If the BGS factions were able to utilise our mission history and air traffic control data on our ships to tailor their procedurally generated offers it may enhance the sensation of 'personal narrative'.

I'd prefer less 'mostly irrelevant' and more 'personalised' missions.

------

If I front up at a completely neutral station, 'mostly irrelevant' is already perfect! ;)

While I agree with your points, they're a separate feature request; (there's TONS of ways the mission system can/should be improved). Please open a new thread for new requests to avoid diluting this one.

Um, since you asked nicely. Ignore all but these bits:
