Allow Free Placement of Nameplates, Decals

All too often, paintjob designs clash with nameplates or decals for their fixed locations and limited variety. The attached pictures show a common situation where you can't even decide if the black or white nameplate looks better on a particular paintjob. Actually, none of them works here because these things aren't designed with each other in mind, evidently.

Can we have a system like e.g. in this game? I know this is not quite trivial to implement but would be a huge improvement, i.m.o. even with the potential of getting the investment back through cosmetics sales.

At the very least, maybe a larger selection of standard placement locations.

And obviously, why can't we select decal color? I find this so weird. Maybe the 8 basic crayon colors?

And why do I have a crazy large assortment of winged decals to choose from? Maybe the decals can represent our highest ranks, instead of all ranks? (thank goodness someone figured this out for PP 2.0).

Decals have been used as an activity reward for a long time. And yet I don't vaguely consider almost any of them because they are either:

(a) not very good.
(b) don't fit with the ship paint job.
(c) placement isn't good
(d) basically a duplicate of a bunch of other almost identical decals (ex: ranks)

A little bit of jazzing up the options would go a long way towards making it a much better reward. Or purchasable ARX item. It kinda makes me feel the decal concept has been abandoned by FDev. Its in the game, so they leave it alone. I suppose PP 2.0 provided new decals as a reward... yay?


Edit: It is sad the effort that someone at Frontier put into the useless PP 2.0 Progress Reward UI. Why couldn't that effort be directed into making the decals actually decent and worthwhile to obtain?

I like the ability to not be too much of a show off and use a lower ranked decal than my maximum one. It is also useful if you want to keep your ship as it was for some memorial sort of reason.
