Since 3.0 has dropped, I'm much more interested in collecting materials. One way I do this is to go into a RES with a ship equipped with collector limpets programmed to grab whatever is in the area. Lately I've been having a blast piloting my SLF while my NPC copilot flies my Keelback. There is just one inconvenience - I have to toggle back and forth between SLF and mothership after every kill in order to open the cargo hatch for the collector limpets. This gets monotonous after awhile and kinda breaks the immersion.
So my request is a simple one - add some control logic (program code) so that if an NPC is piloting a mothership that's not currently engaged in combat, and collector limpets are waiting outside the hatch with materials / cargo, the NPC will open the hatch automatically until
1) The limpets run out of resources in the area to gather
2) The limpets expire
3) The mothership engages in combat
I'm not expecting the NPC copilot to launch new collector limpets when current ones expire. Thankfully the limpets usually last me multiple battles before that happens, so as long as the copilot can open and close the cargo hatch smartly, that would be a huge improvement for what I believe would be relatively little developer investment.
Thanks for considering this QOL addition!
