Allow players to synth/ deploy skimmers from ships, telepresence into them for various tasks

If ships can synth stuff, could we have a way for a ship to synth skimmers (or have a module to do so) that allowed us to create robo backup for on foot things?

We could telepresence into them, pilot them about, perhaps self destruct them like bombs etc?

It would be a bit like the Battlezone remake where you can build units from a factory, except here it would be in miniature. It would certainly help out for single players and might make things more chaotic in multiplayer.

It would also be a way to diversify attack strategies, since not all reinforcements would then come from dropships from above, and be a use for parked ships. It would also allow more experimentation since you won't be critically injured all the time, especially in high sec bases.

Interesting idea 'nuke - and there would be opportunities to unlock and manufacture Guardian skimmers in addition. Perhaps if not piloted by the player could be set (a bit like turreted hardpoints) to provide air cover and either attack on sight, attack if player attacked or possibly guard perimeter/building against reinforcements arriving...

Exactly. If you look at skimmer 'lore' they deploy around perimeters of crashed ships, why not do the same for parked ships?

You could use all of the SLF commands to have a skimmer follow, attack target, defend etc, or just directly pilot it.

You could indeed have a blueprint for Guardian skimmers (that require G materials), cheap Stingers, middle of the road Skimmers....its all there.
