Allow Testing of all Playable Vehicles in Solo Mode

One feature I liked in another simulator, Aces High 2, is that we are allowed to jump into every plane - using every possible load out for that aircraft - in offline mode. It gives us a chance to get a good feel for the aircraft to see if it is something we'd like to use in online play.

As a new player here, I would appreciate it if ED gave us the chance to try out each ship, with every load out possible, in Solo mode somehow. Perhaps add an open (unguided) scenario in the Training section that allows us to choose which aircraft we'd like to fly? Something small like:
  1. Exit the hangar.
  2. Launch.
  3. Fly around or Fly to point B. Refuel.
  4. Fly to point C for an attack challenge.
  5. Land somewhere.

Thank you. :)

I think even adding a nominal service fee for using the station's flight simulator would not be out of the question. Make the fee .001% of whatever the cost of the ship we're trying out. That fully equipped 469M Anaconda?? Sure you can take her for a spin in the simulator. That will be 4,690 credits plz.

Actually, you can fly any plane at any time online in the Training Arena, or your own Custom Arena. Unless it's one of the special perked planes, you can fly almost everything in the Main Arenas too. ;)
But I do like the idea of a simulator inside the simulator; to try out a new ship or loadout.

Why just only trying ? Think wider.
Rent-a-conda for 1 million a day ? But no scratches please ... :)
I posted a suggestion just like this a while ago: Ship Rental

I subscribed to AH years ago -- good to see some folks are still enjoying it. :)

I'll post my response to your other thread.

Quite like the idea, too.
+1

Perhaps this feature can be included as part of some Starport Services.
Home
Munitions
...
Shipyard --> Simulator --> Select ship type --> Simulate.
Cartographics

When in simulation, you'd then leave the space port as you would normally do and then do stuffs. Exit the simulation whenever and you'll still find yourself back in the same star port where you initiated the simulator.

Some sort of simulator would be useful. I mean you don't just go and buy a car without trying it out first, especially if the car in question costs 90% of your assets.

Perhaps a solo instance in which you can choose the ship and loadout, exit the station and fly some 20km to a gauntlet area. This could have some sort of ingame leaderboard which would show the ship and loadout for anyone interested. The gauntlets could also be station specific, for example some would favor heavily upgraded elite level ships where others would have a swarm of softer targets.

From lore perspective this could be a mix between test drive/practise and a sport, space combat olympics or something. Simulation nature of it would not prohibit new players from taking part.

Not keen on a simulator. Half the fun of buying a new ship is the excitement of flying it for the first time. What would be useful in my view is something like a 100% buy-back for the first 24hrs of ownership or something.

I really would dislike this actually.. For me it would totally take away the thrill of flying your new ship for the first time. ymmv
