Allow the steamboats to run outside of the fixed channel

We need better open-water transportation. Back in RCT3, we had "trackless" boats that computed their paths through open water to reach the next station while avoiding other boats. In PC1, steamboats had a fixed rail that was visible, reducing realism. Sadly, PC2 has moved the steamboats to a fixed channel like the rapids ride. This cuts down on their usefulness.

The stupidest thing about the stream boat in PC2 is that it has to be a transport ride. Not just they decided to make it chanel based only, a transport boat ride should be able to transport peeps across a lake.

Forgotten? Unfinished development? Nobody knows... It's just frustrating to see what was possible in PC1 or even in RCT3 and what we got now!

If you compare the evolution from PC1 to PZ and inside PZ in PC2 we should expect more...

Something like light channels in water (water coaster, super splash), cable system (rafts, boat ride), underwater rail (tall steam boat) and in ground concrete channels (log flume, river rapids).

+1 The steam boat with canal ist in my opinion totally useless. Wasn't even used in Planco 1. I can live with the rail under the water. But the canal is just meh, you have to cover up the whole canal as well.

Agree with Inspector G.

"Useless".

As it is currently it's just yet another ride or attraction I'll never put in my park. Therefor it is wasted - wasted effort, wasted money on both Frontier's and my parts.

I'm sorry, but some of the design decisions being made for this game are sometimes mindbogglingly bad, and just indicative of a rushed job and certainly not up to Frontier's previous standards. I don't know what the problem is, but Frontier needs to right their ship before their reputation circles down the drain.

Yea.. this is frustrating

This is definitely the worst implementation of this type of ride in the game. I'm hoping this is because they had the flumes implemented and just popped this ride in one, to easily include it in the initial launch. I can only hope that they have plans to release an underwater rail version in the future...or perhaps they are working on a more free form version like we had in RCT3, which included about half a dozen types of trackless boats ...rowboats, canoes, paddleboats, etc. These would all be very welcome additions to the game and sorely lacking in PC1.

We need a complete water rides overhaul and a big selection of additional water rides.

Especially for placing in open water/ lakes! Trackless row boats and swan paddle boats for free roaming. A steam boat (plus other versions like a paddle steamer) with underwater rail. Tow boat rides and some small channel boat rides. Plus additional water coaster pieces (nearly invisible in water channels).

The channel version is awful - it completely limits the Jungle Cruise ride I want to build - I do not use it because of the trough. Why put that version in the game?

A rework of all the water rides - plain versions for the aqua coasters needed too.

A very basic "barge" with (or without!) seats would be nice too. With attaching scenery the community can design every kind of water transportation. I'd like to see Planco 2 concentrate on delivering bare bones mechanics we can build on in place of trying to please everyone and pleasing no-one.

This. Give us more basic building shapes, and let us design our own "skins" for ride vehicles, as well as such items as benches, tables, trash bins, souvenirs for the modular gift shops (if we get them). Even modular flat rides where we can mix and match components, or design our own. None of this may be doable in the present engine, but I can dream...
