Yes, it says so, but this doesn't make sense. This means buying trading data is good for nothing.I believe you have to physically dock at a station in the system you want to get trade data from.
I tried to buy trade data too and like you, i was sadly disappointed it did not apply to the commodity comparison feature.
Alright, please explain then what does "trending trade" mean and what is it good for?Pretty sure "trending trade," which is the data you buy, is not the same as knowing exact prices, which is what is needed for the compare.

Yes, i use EDDB quite often, but it has it's flaws. It's user fed, and for many systems their data can be pretty outdated. I'd prefer an up-to-date ingame price comparison feature. You can only compare prices from market you landed in. Trade data is pretty worthless. Growing your market network is pretty worthless too because they now reset with every patch.
Mandatory third party apps and sites like EDDB, Inara, ... are the way to go.
With the new direct price comparison feature this sounds redundant and less useful. I hope FDev will give this a bit more love...Using the various trading filters on the galaxy map to see trade data on a trend level. It can be good for deciding what goods to bring to a system you have never visited to so you know what at least will give you 'some profit'.
I don't know why yours is resetting, but it shouldn't.. Mine has never reset -- I'm able to use market compare to look up comparison data for stations I haven't landed at in over a year.Growing your market network is pretty worthless too because they now reset with every patch.
