This has been my first deep exploration trip. 54,000+ ly round trip. Power Play came out while I was in the black. Almost home, only 5,327ly left and was thinking about heading to Lembava. I usually play in open but have no guns, basic shields, and have 3 options. 1. I have a trading python at Zaonce, should I try for Zaonce, grab that and head to Lembava? 2. Try my luck and sneak into Lembava and if interdicted immediately submit and boost? 3. Run chicken and play it safe in solo. I have several weeks of data. cherry picking detailed scans and the rest honk and warp out scans. Several million credits regardless. Just curious what others would do with faced with this dilemma. All thoughts would be appreciated.

Really not dilemma for me. I went to lembava solo
There's a thread here somewhere to request escort, and there are several of us who have been around. I'm picking up a few more systems myself before the CG closes, but I'll be back a couple days prior to help escort explorers in for the final push. If you can hang out another five or six days, I'll bring you home.
I jumped into Lembava a couple of days ago, I play in group to preserve my data, "not as much as yours IMA" when I jumped in and cruised over to the station to drop my data off, just as throttled off to come out of cruise I got interdicted by an NPC that was not showing as a wanted. NPC pulled me out, I hit chaff just in case he was unfriendly as soon as the chaff finished he went to guns and hit my shields in his Diamond Back, I turned to target him he fired again so I went to Beams in my kitted ASP hit him once and got an immediate wanted tag and a fine, I checked and he was still not wanted! he fired on me again so I took him down with a volley from the beams and multi cannons he went pop and I got a murder fine.
Checked the system map and now I am wanted at the station for data drop, the choice then was to risk going in and getting nuked by the station or wait the 7 days for the wanted tag to drop and run around for the 7 days with all my data and risk getting killed in the mean time.
I went in under stealth and boost in to the station and took the risk
and just don't understand how the NPC didn't get a wanted tag when he opened fire first.

and just don't understand how the NPC didn't get a wanted tag when he opened fire first.If you're really set on staying in Open, and you have some credits in the bank, then I would add another option: Stop off at a high tech system at the edge of the bubble, and upgrade your explorer to improve shields (and possible add weapons and/or SCBs depending on your play style). Then the sprint for Lembava will be much safer if you need to rabbit.

NO idea when I might head for human space but when in range I will go solo.
I was a little worried about this too, so switched to Solo and stopped off at the first high tech system, and made my asp more battle worthy. Then I went to pick up my Python and took that to lembava. I didn't get intercepted once, and once in Lembava I switched back to open and there are cmdrs there, and some with combat ships (e.g. vultures) but I didn't see any PvP going on. Now I'm back in the black getting a few more system reports to submit, but close enough I can get back in a hurry.
If you want some help my Python is still parked at Lembava so more than happy to wing up and escort you in (same for anyone else BTW).

I try not to use Solo (the sense of achievement when you make it through is so much better)! However, I have purchased a fast Cobra just for delivering exploration data to Lembava, so I park up the Asp somewhere safe and fly in to Lembava using that.
