Almost Lost Millions in Exploration Data

Coming back from Sag A and I stumbled upon a Herbig AE star and it was almost the death of me. Heard my canopy cracking and everything, heat up to 160%. I was frozen in disbelief, then I just gunned the throttle and maneuvered away from it and was relieved when the heat started to normalize. The bad part was I do have heat syncs on my ship but I had used the last one in my current load and forgot to switch it out for a new one (I keep them powered down unless using).

Scared the @#$% out of me.

I had a similar situation with a neutron star a few weeks ago. I had never seen one before and didn't realize you really can't see them no matter how close you get in but those things heat you up really quick. I hope you have a AFM to fix your modules :)

Yeah it's running low though! I'm about 7k from the bubble!

Pucker factor of 9.5

I would have given it a 9.95 solid. Had a nasty sinking feeling. Watching everything from February getting ready to explode right before my eyes.

Similar thing happened to me when I was trying to Frameshift away from a Blackhole!

On the plus side, you've now seen a Herbig, which is awesome.

Friendly advice, when exploring always throttle right down during the FSD countdown. Your only potential concern then will be a binary system where you drop in smack bang between two stars.

The DBX handles heat quite well so I've not had a problem getting dropped between two stars. Now that isn't to say that if i was in a real tight spot that it might not totally suck, but so far so good.
