Almost no gas, can't accept a mission, interdicted .....

What's the point?

I'm almost about to uninstall this game. I was finally starting to fall into it and really getting pretty solid before 3.9. Now I'm wondering if it's worth continuing at all.

I start in who knows where, with 100 credits. Okay, I can deal. But I can't accept ANY mission at the port I'm at. "This faction does not trust you enough".

Good for them.

Jump to the nearest port, no "freagle", no missions ...wait... there's one for 153cr. Almost enough to cover my gas IF I make it there. Get within 2000m of the destination only to be interdicted.

This is after jumping so much I'm almost out of gas trying to find a mission I can actually take and hopefully break even.

Ctrl+Alt+Del - end process.

maybe the game is not made for you with that little patience? How about jumping in the next system and get some exploration data? Or kill a wanted np for a few thousand credits?

pretty game, terrible gameplay(so far).......back to Evochron Mercenary, Rodina, XRebirth, X AP, etc. etc. which are more awesome. Evochron Mercenary was $25 and has more features and amazing planetfall than ED.

Yeah... not even sure HOW to get exploration data.

I seem to have found "unexplored" stuff a few times already in my jump. How I sell that? No idea. It wasn't an option when I looked @ Cartographics.

This is what you sound like....

"It's too hard ...."

Take a few deep breaths. If you don't have the patience to think it through and work out what to do - no missions - fine do some trading. Or bounty hunting.... Come back to the bulletin board in 5 mins.... etc.

you have to select the unexplored object, get close to it, wait for the scan to finish and then you should be able to sell it at the Cartographics. (scroll down)

How about trading?

It won't make anyone rich in a Sidewinder, but even so, with six tonnes of cargo space (sold my Discovery Scanner), I've made 2000 CR on one run in the outlying area where I started - that's a beginning, and more than covers fuel costs. And then accessible missions will be displayed from time to time. I'm taking it fairly slow and relaxed and yet have upgraded my frameshift drive to give me more than 10 LY range - it just takes a bit of forethought and patience, which has ultimately rewarded me with enjoyment so far.

Lay off. This kind of attitude is what will fail this game. You're going to have a LOT more noobs posting far more harshly than I have due to frustration. I bought in early enough that I'm used to being lost in this game.

Those that aren't ... well, this kind of comment will push them away. Go ahead and keep it up if you really want to isolate your elitist group in it's little unfunded bubble because you're going to NEED those noobs' money to keep your game going.

I feel for you, it isn't easy to get started but with a bit of patience you can work it out. I understand why you don't like the negative comments but you keep inviting them.

You started with 'what's the point' and 'I'm about to uninstall" and ended with 'End process'.

You don't sound like someone that is asking for help or would appreciate it if offered. So yes, old guard need to stop being too up themselves sometimes, but equally new players should not act like spoilt little children either.

Ask nicely, sound open to feedback and ideas and you might be surprised with the help you receive.

I agree with you. The cost in maintaining servers is not paid for by the rupee-fairy...
But SGM, Elite has always been a punishing game. I do think you ran into a string of very bad luck there which, with a little more attention to travel-prep, could've been largely avoided.

it's one thing asking for help, but i wish ppl would stop with the "QQ the game is broken, its to hard, i need a holding hand etc".

I've come to the conclusion that some commanders just can't handle Elite

Im about to dock with 180k of palladium, nice profit margin too and not any mission either, 300k in credits too

To start with I stripped the sidewinder of all lasers, shield gen and scanner and maxed up on cargo slots, 10 in total.
That opened ip larger missions and allowed more of my own trading too

That quickly netted the credits for the hauler, which was also stripped and maxed with cargo holds, 14 currently.

Next will come the Cobra.

Little point having lasers and shields when the ship is so rubbish to begin with. Just run and hide. And of course without the weight of lasers the jump range increases. And without need of power to weapons, divert all to engines and your speed is higher and usually higher than the interdicting enemy. I bounce those guys, Npc and players all the time. Once I've been caught and killed, maybe 20% I get interdicted but outrun and jump before they get me! the rest of time I avoid the interdiction altogether

Like I said some guys just can't handle Elite ;)

just so you know, planet fall is still in design but is coming. Evochron was the same way

Wow. Just wow. This is proof positive of why elite needs an offline single player. I'm glad you've been so successful in the game. Good for you. Maybe elite apologists need thicker skin. And maybe, just maybe FD needs to hold the hands of new players. Not everyone will be able to fly a spaceship before they can crawl. Maybe they should look into making the stating areas just a little more looser with credits and rewards. Elite needs new players, forever, becausr it's an mmo without subscriptions. They should also start paying attention to criticism otherwise ED might be a very niche game (that is not good for what is billed as their flagship game)

Harry, you certainly are fan of Evochrom Mercenary since you like to mention it in forums

No auto GPS to guide you, no holding hands to tell you what to do, you actually have to use imagination and the possibilities the game is offering you (which are many). This is the equivalent of when Nintendo re-released Super metroid on WiiU and someone in the forums asked (like 5 mins after playing the game) "Y cant metroid crawl?" Gamers nowadays need to have everything served on a plate and chewed so that its easier to digest.

The one thing that I noted as dearly missing from the game were the tutorials. As an 84er and generally a afficionado (a?) of spacesims I adjusted within a short time, but I do believe that for new players the learning curve is almost vertical and with the lack of beginner information that Elite is handicapped with, that's not a good thing.
When one couples that with the general punishing gameplay and the fed-ex tedium of the absolute early stages of the game, Elite downright shortens it's 'persistance' time for new players, especially if those new players don't have prior experience with older titles in this franchise.
