Alpha 2.2

Great stuff, sounds like a significant update - FD are clearly working hard.

One question though, is there an option for selecting a pilot that isn't wearing a gimp suit? :p

I think the single player scenario NPCs have learned a thing or two, Recon Wing is hard again, missiles often explode before hitting the fighters:eek: Finally got through it barely.

One thing I've noticed is that the HUD (reticules etc.) doesn't display when the 'window' is shattered... Nice touch...

Also like the gas escaping when the windscreen is broken... More excellent deft touches from the team... Getting better than ever....

Oh and a pic of the Hot Seat :D

I agree some good improvements especially to the HUD but I can't stand the new cargo scoop noises.. Its like listening to screaming cockroaches. :(

Well...your not suppose to "stand it" since that is a warning that you are approaching the cargo canister to fast! ;)

Didn't expect such huge changelog. Body by the way feels soo natural, now mouse look can't look behind, and it feels very very ok.

My network is waaay more stable, but I guess real test will be tomorrow evening, when finally everyone will try it out. Got some weird frame per second issues though.

I like new shields system. It is right way to go, it makes dogfights more challenging, but it also gives clear path to escape from fire. That's exactly what I wanted for ED combat.

As I said, huge changelog :)

Shields regen faster too...

Yeah, but they don't start to regen outright, they take some time to feed energy for shields, and then they go up pretty fast. It gives room for escape strategy that I was so looking forward to. It is definitely step in right direction.

Posted on the Alpha Forums, but thought I'd add it here also.

Shield power increase confirmed. At 2 pips on Sys, crashing into an asteroid at a speed of 90 did/does destroy all shields, but crashing into it at the same speed with all 4 pips to Sys only takes out a ring and a half of shielding at most.

I also noticed that the pilot's avatar is wearing ninja shoes. Sweet! Might help during Zero-G EVAs.

Those are ninja shoes with magnetic surface :p

As an eager Beta, I'd like to say thanks to all posting info here.

Can't wait to get stuck in, but will have to make do with the stuff you guys post and Youtube footage for now.

That's an awful lot of fixes and tweaks the FD devs have put in, so fair play to them for cracking on with it.

this +1

thanks to the developers for all their hard work, looking forward to playing myself /first round beta, fingers crossed late March / early April.

i really think it is a RIP OFF though

If I was a single guy, I would have probably paid the £115 to upgrade but I do agree it's too much money for an incomplete game, my wife went nuts when I spent the £85 lol
Looks amazingy though, can't wait for the beta

Btw why is it again called 2.2 when it is in fact 2.02? :p

Hmm, maybe we could just call the next version Beta 3.0? ;)

Because zero there is just padding? 2.2 = 2.02. And 2.02 is NOT 2.0.2 :)
Now that you've explained it, it looks clear to me - that point between numbers isn't a decimal point, it just differentiates between different levels of version number. "2.2 = 2.02" looks definitively wrong, but as those 'numbers' aren't "2,2" and "2,02" the statement becomes valid, it just means "2 = 2" and "02 = 2".

So, everyone with me: " COMMA IS THE ONE AND ONLY CORRECT DECIMAL POINT! " :p
