Alpha 3 speculation thread

Hi Everybody,

I think it's time to speculate a bit, about what might be included in alpha 3 [yesnod]
I would like to rate every feature by likelihood from 1-very unlikely to 5-highly likely (and 6 for confirmed features)

If you thought of a feature that is not on the list or if you want to correct the rating, please tell me and I will add or change it, as soon as I can.

So here we go:

Roller coaster construction

  • Better control of the track pieces when above vertical (4)
  • Improved supports for custom inversions and coasters with lots of intersections (3)
  • Bring back the circle for banking angle feedback (3)
  • Station Animations like breaks and dropping floors (5)
  • Block brakes, multiple trains per track and coaster management (4)
  • Transfer and switch tracks (2)
  • Custom supports (1)
  • Advanced train coloring customization (3)
  • Different train style choices (i.e. different themes) (2)
  • Music for Coasters (2)
  • Intensity, excitement, nausea feedback system (3)
  • Renaming coasters (3)

Ride construction

  • Recoloring of Flat rides (5)
  • Ride sequence management (2)
  • Changing or turning off music (4)
  • Renaming rides (3)

Path and queue construction

  • Improved snapping system (4)
  • Improvements to Stairs (3)
  • Paths/queues with square edges (2)
  • Creating Plazas with paths/queues (1)
  • Changing/removing the ticket booth from queues (6)
  • Changing the position of a ticket booth to the end of a queue (1)

Modular building tools

  • Advanced rotation for every object (5 - this has been one of the most requested features and I think they will bring it back)
  • Multi-Selection Tool (5)
  • Merge multiple buildings and Scenery objects into one (3)
  • Some walls and scenery objects recolorable (4)
  • Changing textures for walls and scenery objects (1)
  • Toggle to turn off the grid for buildings (1)

Terrain tools

  • More ground textures (4)
  • Water (6)
  • Additional options to fine tune terrain (3)
  • Coaster auto tunneling improvements (4)

Content sharing system (Blueprints)

  • The sharing system itself (6)
  • Sharing of parks (5)
  • Sharing of coasters (5)
  • Sharing of buildings (5)
  • Sharing of rides including scenery and buildings (3)

Themes

  • Fairy tale theme (4)
  • Any other theme (1)

VFX

  • Trigger/Timing for VFX (3)

Shops/Facilities

  • New shop (maybe Gulpee soda shop) (3)

Staff

  • Princess entertainer (if fairy tale theme is included 5, if not 3)
  • Handyman, mechanic, security guards (2)
  • Ride operators (4)
  • Ability to hire staff (2)
(I have no Idea if this is a realistic estimation as staff could be considered management. On the other hand, we already saw the handyman)

Guests and guest management

  • More variation and more animations for guests (5)
  • No-entry signs for areas, guests are not allowed in (2)

Roller coaster types

  • 4D Coaster (4)
  • Mine train coaster (3)
  • Wooden Coasters (1-2) (this would make a great cheat code [mouth shut])
(I'm not a huge coaster enthusiast so I have no idea what other types may have a chance of being included)

Ride types

  • Inferno (Top spin) (3)
  • Other new flat rides (4)
  • Connie Express (Transport ride) (4)

If you have other suggestions or comments, please let me know.
What do you think?

wow you put a lot of time into that. I doubt all your requests will make it into the Alpha but hopefully the final release will see them all added in!

What would you suggest to change? I can always lower the probability of some of the points [happy]

I always have low expectations for a reason. If everything is at 2 and we get 75% of that list well I'm really happy. Where u have high expectations and they don't deliver. Guess what your going to be upset and y moan and groan.

While I agree with you that too high expectations can cause a lot of disappointment, I don't think my expectations are way too high. I think about it like this: Alpha 3 will probably be released some time in August (maybe end of July but that might be pushing it a little). It will be the last of the Alpha phases and a lot of the core functionality should be in place by then. Maybe end of Oktober or some time in November we will get the first beta witch will include all of the management stuff and probably some more content. And if the beta goes as well as expected, by the end of November / beginning of December, they will release the full game with the rest of the content and the remaining themes. (This is what I got from their release schedule. November was mentioned as a full release date in an interview)

Anyway I created this thread so we could discuss and adjust our expectations so they are more realistic and I believe this community can handle it.

I wanna put the ticket booth at the end of the queue of rides and coasters and let people pay there !!!! (optionally) 5/5

Would be a completely different economy system.

I really hope for gridless building system to be able to have multiple angles in the same building, but unfortunately, I doubt it will be there.

I don't know if this could be a feature or not, so for that I'd put it at (1), but maybe we'll see paths with square corners. And we might see big zig-zagging queue lines becoming one giant concrete slab with fences on them, like it is in real-life.

Also, ticket booths can be customized now. I don't know if it will be in Alpha, but they shared pictures of it on their Facebook page.

I put in "changing the position of the ticket booth" but I can't really see it in the next update so I put it as (1). Maybe this will be a thing when they add business management.

I'm pretty sure in general the grid will stay. Although I believe we will be able to overlap grids from multiple buildings and/or be able to use the advanced rotation tool on grid-bound objects as well.

I included your points to the list.
You're right, I forgot that you can remove/change the "ticket booth" now. This was actually confirmed on Facebook, I think.

...Roller coaster types... Wooden Coasters...

The last I recall, FDev indicated woodies were still quite some way off, and I got the strong impression they would be amongst the last elements into test, close to launch.

Overall, I think it's way too long a list for A3, and whilst I do share your excitement I'm happy to have my expectations set by what FDev tell us.

I would expect 'behind the scenes' sim/management elements to start appearing - e.g. ride and shop profitability, maintenance costs etc.
