Alpha and Beta definitions

David plays with flight assist off, because "it's a pain". He just briefly toggles it on to turn quickly.

It might be me who is confused, but I understood it as DB not putting "FA Off" on, except to turn quickly - so in other words: playing with "FA On", except for turning when he briefly puts "FA Off".

Almost no detail of things going forward, the Alpha phases where all in the past when that presentation happened and hence safe territory for DB to expand on.
And also to quote (anonymous) ED developer at ED Reddit:

"There is a very definite project schedule, with specific features and content lined up for each milestone. (There is a small risk with each feature that it may not be ready in time, or may need rework, which is why DB and MB do not announce them publicly until they know they will be in a particular beta.)"

Precisely, and that is a great way to go about it imho. FDEV keeps that schedule confidential and do not anounce any next milestone and do not comitt to new content until the work is pretty much done and they are really sure of it! :p That is another reason why Alpha and Beta in ED have no formal "standard definition". They seem to be just arbitrary phase names and place holders vis a vis the ED community.

Yeah, that make's a whole lot more sense, you're right.

I just did voice transcription on the bit at around 13:00 and I think he meant to convey just what you wrote, but it came out a bit wrong. Guess he was just very excited, as he often is on camera, which overall is a great trait in a project lead.

I was amazed, by how many alpha backers, and how soon people played with flight-assist off, because it's difficult.
But they got very very good at it, it's a skill based thing.
And you do get an edge in combat, when you use it, so that's great.
But you don't have to play with it on, I don't play with it on actually, because it's, it's a bit of a pain.
I do sometimes, and then often you just blip it on, turn and then ...
