Alpha animal questions

So, when animals fight for alpha, there's always a winner and a loser. But I have a few questions regarding that.

And I was wondering: Will the animal with the better stats and or better medal always win? Or do other factors like age also determine the outcome?

And will the loser concur and accept he's lower in rank or will they keep fighting no matter what?

I think age matters, at least for some species (right now I'm breeding bongos, and if the alpha is old, the newly adult males will mostly win the fight). Unfortunetly, for most species, they will just keep fighting until you remove all but one male or all of the females :/

I know for the gorillas that age matters. I just noticed this in my franchise zoo yesterday. I had one elderly male and two young adult males. The older of the two young adult males had become the alpha. I then traded him out and immediately, the remaining young adult male became the alpha. No fighting involved.

It may also depend a bit on how their dominance system work. Some animals goes by size, so the biggest would be alpha. Check the Zooopedia on the animals in question and see how it works.
