That by playing incomplete bits of the game in unfinished state that by the time the game launches it may have lost a bit of its magic? I am a 2nd beta backer myself.......

Nope, and by that I mean, it will have lost some of its magic for me, but I'm not afraid of that at all. In fact, alpha will give me more time to savor the small details that I would normally overlook when rushing headlong in to a newly released game for the first time. I hope to be a wizened player by the time release eventually hits, but I'll also have a far deeper experience of the magic than I would have if not in alpha/beta.
