Alpha channel support for Video Walls

It'd be great if there was a pair of video walls (lit and unlit) that have some measure of transparency to the object themselves and then obey the alpha channel of the media (png for sure, not sure if webm has alpha support). The object itself could look like a piece of cloth or a finely perforated screen or even just unrealistically completely transparent.

This would be really rad for simulating custom effects in a dark ride... lightning effects, projected faces that then disappear, projecting shadows against a wall, etc. Think like the spiders projected on a wall from indiana jones in disneyland, holograms in haunted houses, etc.

Yes please! Animated projections would be cool, although I don't know if there is a video format that supports transparency either. Otherwise it would be an option to filter out all areas in a certain color, like a green screen!

I would also like to see static 2D faces with transparency but without animation. No need for extruding or pixel-tracing the shape to make it like a cardboard cutout, just give us a flat plane with transparent areas. That way, we can add decals like cracks, spider webs or bullet holes on top of walls. And, the kicker....create or own custom logos and fonts to place them on top of empty signs! That way we can still use the nicely designed signs without having to deal with the horrible fonts the game churns out!

As with the see-through glass everyone is asking for I am afraid this is to much load for the game.

But if it is possible. It sure would have a lot of functions to it.

Projections are not going to happen.

Never say never... Not long ago we were told that configurable biomes could not be done... Now it's here.

Also, Alpha channel is a capability of WEBM.

FYI, as far as web browser support, this appears to work best in Chrome currently, but it does seem to work in Firefox also.

The question is, does the game support this yet, can it? Will it eventually? I have a WEBM video with alpha (downloaded from one of the examples listed) but am at work and can't test it yet...

Even if it is a capability of Webm you still want the billboard in PC to take over this property otherwise it would still be a black background.

Customizable Biomes is not a process that presses hard on CPU and GPU activity. It's a one-shot trick that while playing the game does not behave any different then it's previous setting. It's just programming.

But you want a see through object. Now in an earlier livestream (or somewhere on this forum a long time ago) they already stated that see through glass is an massive amount of load for the CPU & GPU because of how the game renders.

Yesterday I noticed my coaster closest to my trainstation (which has the see through glass as a roof) was lagging the most when the station came into view while my other coasters (further away from the trainstation but with way more scenery in the vicinity didn't lag)

So contributing this to the see through glass is very plausible.

Makes me wonder...
Do people who experience big frame drops use this glass roof a lot?
I barely use it so my frame rates are always okayish.

They said having more than 8 textures couldn't be done, and it still cant. Projections would be cool, yes, but unrealistic to expect. Alpha channels for pictures is something they want to look in to, but it has no priority. Rendering alpha channels is quite expensive for static objects, let alone for videos.
