On my experience so far....
So planetary tech (A major feature)...mostly underwhelming with repeating textures and bland terrains. planets look great at distance...shoddy on approach and up close. No atmospheric effects such as blowing dust as stated by Fdev more than once. No surface features like rock scattering.
Starport concourses (A key feature) are the same as Alpha. FDev could have given major iconic ports such as Jameson Memorial special treatment but no, nothing to see here. Devoid of activity and life. So far each type of starport seem to be the same as Alpha.
NPCs are the same as Alpha: bland and uninspired. I mean a bartender that doesn't sell drinks but sells mats...just dumb. Have a dedicated mat trader.(I actually thought this was a placeholder in alpha)
NPC animations and dialogue repetitious and lip sync out of whack. Same as Alpha and in some cases worse.
Spacesuits (A key feature) seem ok. The customisation is ok but the "cool looking" (subjective) stuff is behind a pay wall. Are there any in game ways of gaining visual customisation? A few glitches when applying customisation. All a bit moot really given it's first not third person.
Guns (A key feature) look great, sound good but no visual customisation. Guns are the only thing we see of ourselves on foot soooo it would have been great to have some base, in game paint jobs. Nope. Another cash shop feature I guess.
FPS combat (A key feature) is the same as Alpha. Nuff said.
FDev stated no new ships or SRV's on launch. Yep that's correct. Not even ONE new ship or SRV. Not even one! Existing ships look awesome.
I could go on but it will just sadden me further especially mission structure, rewards and penalties. Ergh.
I'm not clear what FDev were looking at when they stated many times that alpha did not reflect the full release? What else is there? I shouldn't have to spend another 1, 2 or 3 hundred hours traversing the galaxy to find out. The features of the xpac should be front and centre. Clear and apparent. I see no differences so far to alpha except for the cash shop upgrades.
I know the devs and community managers play the game so I'm just wondering at what point did you think any of this was cool and worthy of an expansion release? I don't get it. My love hate relationship with ED continues.
