Alpha will be pieces to test. This process is not a test of the whole game. Later betas are usually reserved for that.Whats in Alpha? Is it worth it to up the pledge? Is it going to be very simple and basic like Dogfighting Alpha for simple pew pew only? Or this is alpha of the whole game?

Actually, we've all heard about it but we have decided to keep it a secret.
It's not out yet!
You'll be receiving a registered letter where you will have to promise your first-born
Probably an email, announcement on the site and forums. Download will probably via the new backer / store site.

I hear from a very reliable source that we will be notified by carrier pigeon.
apparently the Pigeons were set free at lunch time today.
so all you can do now if wait for the pigeon to locate a suitable Internet Café were upon the pigeon will then send you a email to give you your alpha key.
Well, you can't pledge for it anymore. We don't know what alpha pricing will be in new shop. However we know what alpha will be - first, it will have several builds to test core aspects of the game and get feedback from players - combat, in-system flight (propably), trading and of course docking. There will be combats with AI, and at the final stage - MP combat.
Alpha in software design means actually separate parts of the game, so this fit bill rather well.
I also have a feeling that people with alpha access might gain access to future expansions and updates sooner for testing purposes. I think they have hinted at that previously even if they haven't been perfectly clear about it. Seems like a logical thing to do though.

Thanks Michael. That is good to know.Michael Broookes said:Sorry everyone. When we said ALPHA was coming soon there was a mix up and a typo seems to have crept in.
